probstk (712), Nepean, Ontario, Canada Sep 15, 2007 Rated from memory after a night at Bieres et Compagnie. The resto was a disappointment but this beer certainly lifted my spirits! Gorgeous, thick and heavy. Sweetness and bitterness were well balanced. The big fruits and spiciness were delicious. Alcohol was nicely encorporated. I even liked the heavy goblet (it was a bit small though). It’s a wonderful beer with a disturbing name. Beautifully floral and spicy hoppiness suffuse the wealthy cereals of this delightful, perfumy Belgian-style Strong Ale. One of Quebec’s treasures.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A thick layer of foam covers the misty gold.
-A little alcohol heat is felt in the back.
-The crystallised flower petal notes are mesmerizing.
-Carbonation is prickly, perhaps not cozy enough to properly emulate authentic examples of the style.
-You can imagine coriander seeds in the nose.
-The finish is full of herbal, floral hop bitterness.
-Bubblegum and banana notes are whipped up by the yeast.
On tap at the brewpub a few times now. Lubiere (3524), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Dec 14, 2007 An amber ale with a lacing thick white head. Sweet wheat and a light bubble gum in aroma, with spices and alcohol. In mouth, a ricjh spiced rye beer with lingering grains and light alcohol. Rye bread and pepper notes, with warming alcohol in final. Riche bodied. On tap at the brewery, Nov. 3 2007. rederic (1569), montréal, Quebec, Canada Dec 18, 2007 Amber-orangeish color, with a small white head, and laving laces, yeasty, fruity nose, with a hint of sweet malty, rye graininess, with a nice aromatic floral hop, cloverleaf mintiness, with some pineapple, mango, peach, fruity accents, within a spicy coriander, tangerine peel aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity, peachy character, with a bready dough, rye maltiness accent, with a good flowery hop citrusy, peppery, also it reminds me some piney and cedary and coniferous notes, with a hint of spicy coriander, within a mango, peachy, orange fruitiness, leading towards a fruity, dry, minty cedary, hop bitterness finish. jerc (3330), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 4, 2008 2008-05-31. Orangey dark amber body with a tiny beige ring of head. (3+) Interesting fruit aroma, sweet citrus and fruit that I want to call lychee but I don’t think that’s quite right, mild hops. (7+) Flavour has a similar fruit character over top a slightly sweet malt base finishing lightly tart and bitter. smooth average to medium palate. (3+) Pretty nice actually, different. On tap, Mondial, Montreal, 4T
