Thanks Dominic! This is spectacular. Pours a deep maroon with fizzy tan head. Great vinous and sherry aromas. Sour grape notes on the palate. booze, oak, and vanilla too. Great stuff.

On tap at the brewpub, dark hazy amber-brown hue, with a beige head, with a fruity yeast, mild spicy herbal, bourbonish, grated coconut, oaky nose, with some dried dark fruit, burnt caramel, toffee, light sweet port wine, vanilla, spicy notes, and a candied red berry, black cherry, faint chocolate accent in the aroma follows through on a full-bodied palate with a mild warmth boozy, fruity, yeasty, gratred coconut, vanilla, woody, oaky, brandyish, bourbonish, dried dark fruit, sponge toffee character, with a light flowery leafy, grassy hop, faint candied citrus peel, raisiny, barley sugar flavour, leading towards a warming, fruity, brandryish, vanilla, oaky bourbon barrel, faint lingering citrus hop bitterness finish.

Bottle. Heavy roasted aroma fo the malt, moderate cooked orange for the hops, and dough fo the yeast, with background notes of toffee, date, aisin, brown sugar and port wine.Head is tiny, wispy, off-white with a spot or two of lacing and good legs, and is almost fully diminishing. Color is murky dark red/brown. Flavor starts moderately to heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately sweet and faintly bitter. Palate is medium to full, syrupy, with a soft carbonation, and finishes sticky on the lips. This American Strong Ale aged very well in the bottle.lasting aromas and lingeing flavors with nothing off in the least.

My Bottom Line:
Bourbon rides this Barrel-Aged Imperial Brown Ale’s hazelnut-flavored caramel, as light oxidation and earthy bitterness seal each sip.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of frothy foam sits atop the dark brown.
-Bourbon barrel flavors are still quite present even though this vintage is blended with fresh beer.
-Mouthfeel is slick and the carbonation soft.
-At over a year-old, this brew is staying the course, but it is not foreshadowing great moments of aging. Drink it now, I say.

Bottle.

341 mL bottle in trade from tom10101 - Merci beaucoup Tommy! Benelux is one of my favourite places in the world, but this is the first time I’ve ever had a bottled offering from them. Pours dark cola brown with very little head. Lots of vanilla in the nose, along with caramel, booze, maraschino cherries, and a touch of mocha. Lovely, and the barrel is not overwhelming. While the flavour is lacking in similar depth, but the barrel flavours up front are balanced by earthier flavours in the second half. Body needs to be a little bigger up front - it finishes well. Nice beer.

Pours dark somewhat murky brown with a decent beige head. Aroma brings some barbecue, sweet and smoky notes balanced well with the barrels noticeably there, but not hot. Flavor brings a complex brown ale sweet and tangy malt flavor, smooth notes from the barrel as well like in the nose are nice on the palate.
