(Rating #3994)
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Glouglouburp (4773) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 27, 2012
In short: A rustic and very refreshing blond wheat ale. Very nice thirst quencher
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Cloudy yellow body topped by a medium white head with good retention
In long: Nose is like smelling a slice of lemon pie in an old country house room that hasn’t been used for a long time. Body is full and spongy providing a fun mouthfeel. Taste is very much like a lemon muffin with sesame seeds, a mild yellowed grass dryness and a nice barnyard twist. The dryness and wheat come back with an after-taste of my beloved breakfast Shredded Wheat™. Despite the low abv this beer felt nourishing but remained as refreshing and sessionnable as a light wheat-based Saison should be. Drinking a refreshing beer like this after running 50 miles made it even more enjoyable. And the fact that I ran those 50 miles over a 20 years period trying to catch busses doesn’t diminish my accomplishment.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 MartinT (6340) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 1, 2011
My Bottom Line :
Spicy, herbal hops and delicate funk join banana esters, wheat crackers and citrusy angles in this smashing session Saison.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A sheet of foam covers the cloudy blond.
-This is as intricate as it gets for a session brew. Yeast character, cereals and hops are all perfectly leveled and evocative.
-Bananas are present in the aroma and come back in the last half of the flavor profile.
-The citrusy fruitiness and light tartness, coupled with the relative dryness, make for supreme drinkability.
-If this were bottled, I’d have some at home all the time.
On tap at the brewpub.

A hazed blonde saison with a thick lacing white head. In aroma, a smooth herbaceous malt with light orange peels, grassy, a bit soapy. In mouth, a smooth crisp malt with nice herbal malt, light bubble gum, curacao, very nice. On tap at brewpub, Oct. 14 2011.

[on tab at brewpub]
Nicely sour aroma that is refreshing . Hazy bronze under a white flannel blanket that is lacy. Refreshing sour wheat and brettanomyces character along with some faint caramel and faint walnut accents. Light body, medium carbonation, lasting herbal bitteness.
