Draught at Benelux. Pours a deep brown along with some ruby hues and a small lasting creamy off-white head. Slightly mild aroma is malty and yeasty along with a bit of "metal" and fruit. Flavour of Belgian yeast, caramel malt, dark fruit and some light floral hops. Medium to full bodied. Pretty good but I expected better.

On cask at Benelux 4th anniversary
Appearance : Dark amber.
Aroma : Spicy and sugary. Notes of red fruits.
Taste : Fruity and spicy. A bit mineral. Finish is mineral, spicy and fruity. A bit sweet but rather dry.
Overall : Nice fruity profile. A bit too spicy and mineral. Not so good. I was a bit disappointed by this one.

At Benelux. Cloudy ruby with a solid lasting creamy beige head. Aroma is tantalizing - like a roasty/caramel Orval-y thing. Taste is nicely balanced between roasty sweet caramel, pungent floral/grassy bitterness and dry spice - hardly any alcohol at all. Sticky and slight astringent mouthfeel, a nice dry pungent and yeasty linger. solid stuff.

Tap at brewpub. Well-done strong brown belgian, comparable to some quadrupels I had but without the magnificience... Medium to full body, with more spicyness than sweetness and with a powerful herbal hop presence taking a lot of place in the mouthfeel. Notes of various spices and a discreet caramel touch. Nothing seems wrong but nothing is overwhelming neither.

(automne 2006)

A lightly hazed brown ale with a thin lacing light moka head. Again, fresh mash aroma, yeast, light bananas and cream. In mouth, a nice grainy belgian ale with light herbal hops, very nice. Medium bodied. On tap at brewpub, March 27 2009.

Dégusté le 7 juin 2007 avec french tickler. On Tap Copper brown poor with a thin off white foamy head... nice lacing as well. Aromas of alcohol, caramel and herbal... Good hops... Nicely carbonated... fresh and has a nice dry non agressive bitter finish. Nicely balanced beer. Added flavors of coriander and caramel...

Sweet, brown sugar aroma, candied malt and treacle, deep brown, small toffee head. Big roasted malt flavour, pitfruits also. Medium bodied, balanced, sweet and fine, alcohol is hidden. Very good!

Draught. Red-copper with a ring of white head. Aroma is fragrant/perfumey - berries, cookies, and sweet spices. Lively carbonation. Heavy malt accents with some metallic characteristics. Reasonably palatable, just not something I’d drink a whole lot of.
Sampled at the brewpub on June 1, 2007.
