3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 rederic (2326) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 8, 2010
On tap at the brewpub, clean, yellow gold color, with a thick white head, nice spicy herbal, peppery hop nose, with some leafy, grassy accents, with a hint of spearmint and a light grainy pale, pilsener malt aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a good crisp, yeasty grape bubblegum, flowery hop leafy character of sterling, saaz hops, with some grassy, cloverleaf bitter accents in up front, with a hint of honeyed pale, pilsener malt, leading towards a nice leafy, grassy, hoppy, bitterness finish.

(Rating #2723)
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 MartinT (6340) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 30, 2009
My Bottom Line:
This Pilsener’s balanced nose of pils malt and spicy noble hops leads to a gripping spicy hop flavor and bitterness that might overshadow the otherwise crunchy cereals towards the finish.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam tops the clear golden.
-The lean, healthy body makes for a quenching lager.
-Sterling’s Saaz heritage is obvious, but I find its flavor a tad sharper than its Czech parent.
-Carbonation is smooth.
-This Americanized version of the Czech stalwarts would make some Czech mirobreweries proud.
On tap at the brewpub.

A golden pils with a htin white head. A lightluy fragrant hops aroma, fruity notes, light and pleasing. In mouth, a pils with a mix of american adn british hops, light biscuitty malt, a bit thin, but a good summer quaffer. On tap at brewpub, June 21 2009.

Tap at the Brewpub. Very pale golden beer with a creamy white head. The aroma is quite lovely. Lots of bright zesty noble hop character over a nice bready malt base. A bit of straw/grassy character. Flavour is quite nice. Soft palate, fresh and grassy with a nice floral/spicy nose. A little bit of lemon/citrus. It’s a really nice pils... lingering bitter finish. Soft bitterness.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Glouglouburp (4773) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 30, 2009
In short: Lots of cereals and a good amount of not-so-tasty hops. A satisfactory pilsner.
How: Tap at brewpub. First batch of this new beer (summer 2009)
The look: Clear blonde body topped by a white ring of foam
In long: Nose has light dry leaves/grass. Taste is very basic straightforward. A lot of cereals with a little honey. The texture is a bit oily. Enough hops to balance it off but I guess those sterling hops are not tasty enough for me. A medium dryness with a light bitterness and a light citric tartness. A little sandy/sand-paper in the finish. This is a good thirst quencher but not as interesting as the Magnum (same base beer with magnum hops) that was served just a few weeks before. Still, if you want an easy to drink thirst quencher this beer is sterling.
