A white ring of foam on top of a clear blonde body. This is a boosted version of their probably defunct Blonde d’Abbaye that I’ve had on numerous occasions. Apart from the higher abv this one appear as if it had a more generous quantity of noble hops than the Blonde d’Abbaye. But for the rest it is pretty similar. Citrus and honey on the nose. Crisp malts, honey, rather yeasty, a little sugary sweetness and again something about the yeast/hopping that creates a strong mineral saltly flavour in my mouth. Well malted and well hopped. Short sweet-bitterness (yes I know it’s a non-sense) of medium intensity. Not very complex but highly drinkable. Although I’m far from a stronger-is-better type of beer lover but I found the 7.7% definitely more appropriate than the 6.6% of the original version. Plus the stronger alcohol level helps me to have a better opinion of myself undisturbed by the facts.

Tap at Brenelux. Pours a almost clear deep golden with thin lasting white head. Aroma is fruity esters, light perfume, sweet candy sugar, apple, phenolic and lemon. Flavor is light cracker, pils malt, honey sweetness, apple cider, peach, pear, fragrant, fruity, with tangy sweetness, peppery phenols and floral rose petal- triple karmeliet-like- slight dms and corn comes through as it warms. Ok.

Dégusté avec french tickler le 7 juin 2007. On Tap Yellow amber poor with nice lacing... Aromas of bubble gum, mellon, very hoppy... Reminds me of a little rhubarb and raspberry tart. Flavors of creamy caramel with a spicy peppery aftertaste. Dry finish, creamy and slightly oily. Good overall.

Yeast, malt and pear aroma, golden, pours a small off-white head. Good malt taste, some yeast is noted. Medium bodied, some spice and a fine tongue tingle. Good.

Draught. Clear orange body with a small white head. The aroma is fruity consisting of pears, faint spice, and oranges. Toasted grain flavour along with a good level of hop bitterness. Not a whole lot of fruit character but otherwise pretty decent.
Sampled at the brewpub on June 1, 2007.

UPDATED: JUN 13, 2007 Triple d’Été: Fruity esters and nutty, lightly grainy malts are joined by light notes of alcohol. Clear golden body is topped by a low but lasting white head that covers the sides of the glass with fine lacing. Fruity esters are joined by clean fresh malt flavour and surprising bitterness. Plenty of grassy hop character. Medium body with initially refreshing moderate carbonation that s somewhat short-lived. Sampled on tap at the brewpub.

On tap at brewpub.
Clear, golden clear ale with small fizzy rocky top.
Grainy, wheat like aroma. Pleasant fruity clean nose.
Fruity, clean grainy character. Gentle, potency well hidden. Silky smooth finish with light bitterness to it. Reminded me a bit of old school of Unibroue.

My Bottom Line:
Humid herbal hops and spicy yeastiness caress the bulky cereals and their honeyed counterparts in this approchable, filtered Tripel.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-The lofty foam sticks and laces beautifully.
-The spiciness in the nose roams from herbs to green peppers.
-Alcohol is well hidden.
-Herbal hops create intelligent bitterness.

On tap at the brewpub.

Couleur jaune-or limpide.
