[on tap at brewpub]
Slight sour, creamy aroma with a woody bitterness, tropical fruit, and white grapes. Almost clear straw appearance with a lasting, thin white cover of large bubbles. Grainy sweet base malt flavour with a little corn at the end. Delicious (sweet) apple and pistachio accents. Light body, moderate carbonation, slightly sweet finish.

Clear straw colour. Light spicy sweetness with a little touch of fruit. Some lean malt and some apple/pear eaters. There is a little bit of distinct vegetal character that I don’t like. Warming intensifies the sweetness (although it’s pretty well restrained, actually). The body is getting close to the sort of lightness that it needs although it’s not quite there. They have a good yeast in here and it’s close to where it needs to be. A little bit of tweaking and I think they’ll have a damn fine triple here. Slightly leaner and slightly cleaner would be great.

[3847-20110730] Tap. Plastic Barbie aroma has a hint of apple. Slightly hazy, pale yellow brown body. Brown apple sauce flavour caught me off-guard with the alcohol and finishes a little on the sour side. Medium-full body. Subtly powerful. (6/3/6/3/13) 3.1

2011-07-30. Crisp pale yellow with a smooth white head. 3+ Floral aroma, hint of a cidery touch, pale malt character. Flavour is an odd blend of sweet pale malt, modest alcohol, floral notes and a light bitterness. Average bodied palate. Okay, does not quite come together for me. On tap at the brewpub, Montreal

Tap at the brewpub. This is one of the best tripel’s I have had on tap in a while. They did a very good job, it wasn’t too sweet and it was well conditioned (as opposed to the other tripel at a brewpub I had in Montreal). Nice esters with good Belgian sweetness with the usual negative suspects. Alcohol present but well integrated into the beer.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Boutip (3971) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - APR 7, 2011
Draft: Poured a beige color ale with a small foamy head with good retention. Aroma consists of light fruity ester and subtle peppery yeast with a semi sweet malt base. Taste is a bit disappointing (probably somewhat due to the fact that I had this right after their Ergot) with light peppery yeast notes and even subtler fruity ester with an OK malt backbone. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. OK but not as par as some of the staple of the style.

On tap at the brewpub in Montreal. Pours a cloudy yellow color with a large white head. The aroma is hot spicy Belgian notes, bready. The flavor is a warm spicy banana ester, some drier grains. A good brew to style.
