Bottle. Golden colour, average head. Aroma of malt and some caramel. Flavour is clean, bit sweet, malty and with a little bitterness. A good drinkable pilsener style beer.

Řl fĺet pĺ ferie i prag. Er ligesĺ kedelig og flad som en Hof. som dog er god til at slukke třrsten med eller drikke sig fuld i. Hvis der er andre muligheder at vćlge i mellem ville jeg aldrig vćlge denne.

On tap at Pivni Galerie, Prague, 500 ml, Filtered. Clear pale gold with white head. I have to say that getting flavour from this was like finding a needle in a haystack it was so cold. We didn’t have time to warm it up too much, but when I got some heat into it there was a grassy fruity hop note. Reasonable without getting to good, the malt was light and crisp just boring.

Golden colour with a small white head. Sweet malty barnyard aroma. Flavor has some sweetness but finishes with a hoppy bitterness.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a clear straw golden with a small, white head. Completely pure malt aroma. Medium body dominated by sweet, malty notes balanced by some dry and slightly floral hops. A classical Czech. 120906

Bottle. Golden body with a large white head. Sweet malt aroma. Flavor is more of the same with a nice hop finnish.

Pours slightly dark golden, with a large creamy white head. Faint sulfur aroma, but enough to drain out anything else. Body is quite weak, with some floral hop flavours coming thrugh late, again there is some sulfur in the flavour, pretty much ruining everything. I feel that I tried it before lagering, I’d expect the Ferdinad pub to get the beers in their prime, and have good quality control, but that is obvously not the case. Also seems a bit overcarbonated, but as it warmed and flattened (as I didn’t want to drink it) some banana esters came to the surface. A weird beer.

Bottle (@ Pivni Galerie Praha) Deep golden coloured, medium-sized lacing white head; sweet grainy nose with a tinge of herbal hoppiness; sweet flavour, medium bodied; sweet-herbal-bitter, also a bit citrousy finish. Not bad, but a little bit too much on the sweet side.........

Best before bottle 6/30/2006 from Sams in Chicago consumed on 5/12/06. Foamy, huge creamy-ivory head is well-retained, showing light, spotty lacing. Intensely burnished brass body is luminous and shows a flurry of bubbles. Coming after Podkovan, anything is going to smell crisp and highly attenuated (no, but seriously, I actually didnt mind Podkovan). Crisp, mineralic, just plain aromatic (perfect is the only word I can say) styrian goldings explode on the nose with a wonderfully crisp lager yeast. Seems like they lagered this one amply. The flavor is crisp, biting and with that true mineralic water that balances sweet pils malt so wonderfully. I don’t even think this is the most amazing Bohemian Pils, but this is just such an intense style, with such a strong sense of malt and beautiful hops that it’s hard to really relax and see this for what it is.
