Rudy brown color, medium-sized, quite a longlasting white head; sweet toasted caramel aroma; thin to medium body, a bit sticky mouthfeel; flavor almost sickenly sweet of syrupy caramel (probably due to use of sweetener) based on relatively light maltiness; gladly the finish at least gives some idea of roasteness - though only hintful, and the bitterness is nowwhere to be found.

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2010 500ml bottle (K CM, Kamppi)
Deep red, brief spongy beige head. Rich grainy aroma, sweet. Really grainy in fact, some huskiness. But also really sweet. Smooth, sweet body, rich roasty and sugary retronasals, carbonation soft. Residual sugars not only high, but I notice there’s saccharin in the ingredients, which I have to penalise them for. Tasty roast, but just too sweet. Drinkable, but leaves me thirstier due to the stickiness! (6:4:6:4:10=3.0)
Rerate: 500ml bottle (K CM, Kamppi)
5+ simple sweet dark lager aroma, tough of roast.
4 dark red, ring head
6 bacony retronasals. Pleasant roasty taste, quite dry in the burntness
3 refreshing palate, carbonation crisp.
12 more burnt and less sweet than the average czech dunkel.

Tap@Vltava, Helsinki. Dark brown with a nice beige head. Weak aroma of chocolate and caramel, flavor is nicely sweet, but not too sweet, mostly caramel and some coffee, very easy to drink. Nice dunkel.

29/10 0.5 l bottle courtesy of Doggythedog, thanks for sharing! It poured darker reddish brown body with medium sized beige head. Quite ordinary caramel and coffee aroma. Flavor was balanced between sweetish caramel and coffee roasted malts. Pretty simple and none of those two is too prominent. Thinner to medium body, still it had quite short, slightly caramel finish. Some herbal hops might be emerging here, as well. Didn’t particularly like it as of ts simplicity and lack of stronger character, but it’s a decent brew for sure.

Bottle probably from the Albert hypermarket in Chodov, Prague, shared with heavy
Poured a dark red body going black with a beige head that went away at a medium pace. Dry malty nose reminiscent of milk caramel, slightly roasty and sweet. Light roasty taste with notes of caramel, dry, not all that sweet for a Czech dunkel... maybe more coffeeish than chocolatey, but both descriptors are a bit stretched. Even some extremely weak notes of herbal hop floated in for a second once. It’s an ok dark beer that’s more a schwarzbier than a dunkel in my book but still not enough to care about it. All in all, a solid enough choice in a Czech supermarket.

Bottled "Dark Lager" (BB 10/2010)
Dark brown color, small beige head. Chocolate, cardboard, dominantly roasted rye-bread/malts in the nose. Medium-bodied - quite good body actually for 11 plato Czech lager. Caramelly, chocolaty, mild roasted malty flavor. Light hoppyness behind the sweet aftertaste, some licorice too. Balanced, ok Czech dunkel.

Medium white lasting head. Bright yellow body. Milky malty grassy hop aroma. Dry-sweetish milky chalky taste with grainy grassy notes. Watery mouthfeel. Clean palate. Dryish milky caramelly aftertaste. Not at all bad, but boring and watery. (0.5l bottle, U Ferdinanda, Prague.)
