Rating for "Ferdinand Dark Beer". Label slightly different than pictured with a white background at the bottom. ABV was 4.5%, as stated.

Best before 29/03/05, consumed on 01/04/05... damn! Bottle poured a deep, ruby red body with a small tan head. Sweet, bready malt aroma that was a little juicy. Flavor went from sweet to sour, then finished sweet again. Not many discernable flavors.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2008 Bottle at home. Redbrown with a large light brown head. Aroma moderate malty (caramel, roasted). Flavor moderate sweet and bitter. Light body. To thin for me.

Draught at the fest called Cseh Csillagok, Millenáris, Budapest. Dark brown body with a small tan head. Toasty caramel and some dried fruits in the nose. Roasted malt and some toasted candy sugar and caramel in the medium bodied beer. Some grassy hop in the finish.

Aroma: dark chocolate, some roasty notes, caramel, slight herbs from hops. Black colour, frothy head. Medium sweetness, light to medium bitterness. Oily feel, soft carbonation. Not bad, fortunately is not too sweet, but also nothing exceptional.

Brun öl med ett gräddigt beige skum. Doften är maltigt söt med lätta rostade toner och choklad. Smaken är något för söt för mig. Mörkt socker, russin, malt och mörkt bröd i smaken.

This poured a reddish brown with medium carbonation and a slender tan head. The aroma is like that of wort in a brewhouse. The flavor is caramel malt with an odd mineral water kind of a finish that left a film on my tongue. My dunkel experiences are rarely good...

[At Københavnske Øldage 2005] A clear brown beer with a small orange head. The aroma is sweet roasted and rather fruity. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and a dry roasted end.

Bottle. "Ferdinand Dark Lager" (4,5%). Pours a clear bit dark brown colour with a medium short lasting light brown head leaving a bit of lacing. Quite sweet roasteb caramel and brown sugar aroma with some roasted malt. The flavour is also quite sweet with toasted malt, caramel, some brown sugar, bit grains and nuts. Sweet dry finish.

Dark brown with a lasting off-white head. Aroma of caramel and toffee with a little diacetyl. Hint of grassy hop aroma. Sweetish caramel and grany malt flavour with a grassy hop finish
