On tap at The Pivovarsky Klub, Prague, unfiltered, 300ml. Cloudy dark amber with malty head. Over the days we came in here we found that this bar particularly enjoys to serve unfiltered Czech beer, and more power to them, I hope it is succesful. There was a lot going on in this beer it was bitter and woody initially, rather as if it had been stored in an oak barrel then came through a sweetish, sherry like body with an alcohol burn and finally a nutty finish, I agree not a lager as such, but a Vienna? maybe. I see it was brewed in honour to Ferdinand d’Este, well there could be a lot worse things to remember him by. A good beer made better by serving unfiltered.

pivnizub (8745) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - OCT 19, 2006
Bottle: Amber coloured, mid-sized fluffy head, slowly diminishing; sweet-malty, caramelly nose with a tinge of herbal hops; sweetish flavour, medium ti full bodied; first sweet-malty finish, later a slightly bitter aftertaste. Well drinkable ! Why is this beer called "Seven bullets" (Sedm kuli) ? The austrian heir to the throne Ferdinand d’Este, who lived to the year 1914 near Benesov, was killed in Sarajevo by seven bullets. This was the beginning of WW I !

(Bottled) Clear, reddish amber color with almost no head. Somewhat stuffy, herby aroma with dark fruit hints. Sweet, caramely-malty, slightly roasty flavor with cherries and ashiness. Light to medium-bodied, a bit thin, quite low-carbonated palate. A bit strange brew, but not very interesting.

Mungo (2472) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - SEP 11, 2006
Draught @ Hotel Antygl, Sumava. Mid brown. Noce light coffee and toasty malts. Light sweetness and slight herby bitterness to balance. Major prob was excess fizziness ruining the soft flavours, without that it could have been very good.
