Draft at Ferdinanda. Red-brown clear body and a off-white lasting head. Aroma of nuts, caramel, brown sugar and some fresh citrus. Medium sweet and light bitter - well balanced. Oily texture and some sticky as well.

Tap @ Ferdinanda, Prague. Clear orange with two fingers thick creamy tanned head. Excellent lacing. Butterscotch, caramel, toffee in the aroma. Sweet and bitter flavors in a good balance with some alcohol. Medium body. Syrupy texture. Nice palate.

IV.

clear amber, large smooth offwhite head. nice malty slight bready note, dry, caramel. flavor is bitter caramel, some malty sweetness. makes me think of the malty flavor from barley wine but of course much weaker. palate is a bit too fizzy. a very tasty beer.

Clear amber color with medium sized beige head. Light toffee aroma. Toasted malty flavor with herbal spiciness and some liquorice. Good dry, peppery long hoppy finish with slight alcohol notes. Thick oily texture with medium balanced body and lively carbonation. One more please!

Brilliant ruby-chestnut; slim white rim. Nose with bread, sweet like Marssala or other dark dessert wine, definitely vinous. Taste again bready and very faintly vinous. Finish is bitterish, rather metallic. Maybe rather Balsamico than wine. Medium body, bit watery at the end. Not bad. I wonder whence the name ("seven bullets", thanks motelpogo). It's certainly not seded with diacetyl, what I fear most from imported Czech stuff.

On tap at The Pivovarsky Klub, Prague, unfiltered, 300ml. Cloudy dark amber with malty head. Over the days we came in here we found that this bar particularly enjoys to serve unfiltered Czech beer, and more power to them, I hope it is succesful. There was a lot going on in this beer it was bitter and woody initially, rather as if it had been stored in an oak barrel then came through a sweetish, sherry like body with an alcohol burn and finally a nutty finish, I agree not a lager as such, but a Vienna? maybe. I see it was brewed in honour to Ferdinand d’Este, well there could be a lot worse things to remember him by. A good beer made better by serving unfiltered.

Excellent brew; deep red in colour and a toffee nose. Sweetish but balanced flavour of toffee malt, some roastiness and grains. Very tasty and full bodied; really drinkable! (Bottle from Pivni Galerie, Holešovice)

Advertised in the Ferdinand bar as Seven bullet stout, so I was suprised to see a copper coloured beer, with a small off white head being poured for me. Anyway, not a worry. Aroma is very floral, with some caramel. The body is very full and has great balance, with some spices, grapefruit and crystal malt. The finish is a little sweet, but enjoyable.
