yalnikim (681), Wellington, New Zealand Jun 28, 2008 Tasted 27/06/2008. 330ml bottle shared with TheGrandMaster at The Malthouse. Hazy gold with a small lingering white head. A very brief whiff of sulphur and caustic. Butter takes over after that fist venting. Tastes a touch better than it smells with a medium bitterness sneaking past the diacetyl. We couldn’t finish it between us or, at least, we didn’t want to.
TheGrandMaster (1617), Auckland, New Zealand Jun 27, 2008 Bottle, compliments to the Malthouse (in Wellington), a hazy straw colour with a white head. A very pungent aroma, Joe would say it smells like old socks, it is more rubbery for me. Buttery, and even salty, on the palate. A bit like a bad home brew. donfardz64 (169), Wellington, New Zealand May 13, 2008 330ml bottle at Malthouse. Pours pilsner golden with bubbly head which lingers. Very carbonated. Comes through strong with hops, and a bit of malt. Thats about all, does one thing but does it well and strong. Flavour lingers for quite some time. Papsoe (11421), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 11, 2008 (Bottle 30 cl) Clear, golden with a tall and handsome, lacing head. A light maltiness in the aroma. Medium-bodied with a fairly low carbonation. Sweet and somewhat sticky malts and then again these chicory notes that every now and then pops op in some lesse lagers. Dry finish with some hop bitterness. 310108
