COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This distinctive hybrid beer style combines the crisp, clean feel of a light ale with the dark, cocoa, roasted smoothness of a stout. Especially unique is the rich darkness of this beer without the bitterness and heaviness of traditional stout. It is brewed in the German tradition of a long boil to darken and smooth out the beer. Vanilla and brown sugar are added at the end of the boil to lend just enough sweetness to balance the dry finish. This beer was the best mistake we ever made. The original intent was to make a clone of the famous stout beer for our friends and family who enjoy that beer. It turned out to be only a little stout-ish with a very clean finish. It became the favorite of stout and non-stout lovers alike. This beer became what we are known for, and itís always on tap in the basement bar. This beer reaches maturity at 6 weeks after the brew date and only gets better from there.

Black pour, medium tight foam head. Aroma is dark fruit. Dark roast malt. Flavour is odd to nail down. Plummy fruit. Lighter bodied than expected as well. Roasted malt, low bitterness. Different... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pitch black with a dark brown head; Good lacing. Aroma of chocolate malts, vanilla, rich toffee and roasted barley. Flavor is similar with more of a roasty characteristic; Aftertaste is a mix of sweet vanilla, roastiness and surprisingly hoppy. Heavy body with some moderate carbonation; Surprisingly smooth texture. Nice!

Looks good in the glass. Aroma has some nice vanilla and roasted malts. Taste is dark fruits and chocolate, then some more oatmeal in the middle, and a little ashy tobacco in the finish. Palate is thin for the style with a medium body.

Bomber. Black with a huge brown head. Cereal malt, chocolate, cinnamon, almonds and a light earthiness. Lightly sweet with a dry cinnamon finish. Body is lighter with a smooth feel.

Bottle from Atom. Thanks! Pours a pretty thick looking black with a large tan head. Large bubbles. Aromas of soy sauce, very dry chocolate, ash and tar. Taste is very cigarette butt ashiness. Holy heck, this is the most ash Iíve ever had in a beer. So ashy. Also getting some banana and clove like esters. What kind of yeast does this use? This is a very strange brew, almost like a dry dopplebock with extra roast. Banana, clove, heavy ash. Some cocoa, powdery spices. Pepper. Intensely different. Not saying its bad, itís just wildly different from any impy stout Iíve ever had before. Not sure what to think here... Way too much going on. This beer is seeking direction.

Sampled at Winterfest. Not impressed. Dark pour but an impossibly light palate for the style. Everything seems muted. Pretty weak.

A little under-rated Iíd say. Dark with an off-white head. Roasty, cocoa, vanilla sweetness to this as well. Refreshing and not as heavy as lot of imperial stout. You could drink a few of these no problem. Nice beer.

A solid imperial Stout. Aromas of dark fruit, molasses. Flavors are roasty and sweet with some nice dark fruit and brown sugar coming through. Good.

Bomber pours a dark brown/black with a medium reddish tan head. Aroma of bitter dark chocolate, dusty roasted malts, and earthy coffee. Taste of bitter dry dark chocolate, smoke and roast, nutty, sweetness from the vanilla and brown sugar. Very nice, fairly complex yet drinkable.

Sampled at ABR 2013 and at Dennis Brothers tasting in Cottage Grove, MN. Pours a semi-clear root beer brown colored brew with a thin tan head that leaves behind some spotty lacing and a thin beige ring. Aroma of Bakers chocolate, a hint of coffee and a touch of prunes. Taste is medium bodied, soft carbonation with flavors of Bakers chocolate, a hint of black malt, vanilla and some light coffee. Finish is quite light for an imperial stout. Some chocolate and vanilla aftertaste that quickly disappears. One of the lightest imperial stouts Iíve tried but the high alcohol is well-hidden.
