3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a slightly hazy orange color, thin white head. Aromas are citrus forward, tons of orange and a bit of pine. Taste is a bit more pine than the aroma, some lemon/lime flavor, and a dry, bitter, malty finish.

On tap at Pizza Luce in Duluth. Light yellow pour. Hop flavor is mostly citrus. This is a lighter IPA, but itís very crisp and refreshing. Unique.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at Carmody in duluth. Gold with small white head in pint glass. Smells of some grapefruit and pine. Slightly resin, sharp pine hop bite. Strong bitterness, doesnít quite have the rest to balance. Not bad.

Sampled at the taproom. Enjoyed it so much, I decided to buy a six pack of cans. Pours a bright golden yellow with a white head. Absolutely smooth and delicious citrus flavor. Will certainly buy again!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz can, thanks Johannes & Willie! Copper color. Aromas of honey, floral & perfumed hops. Softly bitter taste with floral and piney hops. Fairly light body with good drinkability. Fairly delicate IPA in modern standards, which is a good thing.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This is one of my favorite beers! Itís got a strong hop flavor, but finishes clean. Bent Paddle touts their use of filtered Lake Superior water, and you can really taste the difference between this and other beers whose process is not as clean and whose sources are less pure. Just . . . love this beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft sample. Gold in colour with moderate carbonation. Loads of spicy C-hops on the nose, along with some floral and light pale malt notes. Juicy pink grapefruit, kitchen herbs, cut grass and a hint of tropical fruit on the palate. Lightish body (for the style), with a cleansing sharp bitterness. Right up there with the great Minnesotan IPAs from Town Hall, Surly, Indeed, and Steel Toe.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pour from a 12 oz. can, consumed on 3-2-14. Metallic and a touch "beery" smell features scents of minerals, lemon, salt, and grapefruit. Pours a clear brass with a moderate amount of beige head. Light to moderate lacing. Dry, creamy, bitter taste features black pepper and lemon elements as well as a touch of alcohol in the flavor. Medium body. Soft in an unremarkable palate. Itís a simple beer. This can canít be much more than 2 months old, perhaps closer only to a month. It may be past its prime, but that seems awfully quick, even for an IPA. I did prefer earlier selections from the six-pack from a couple or more weeks ago. I probably would have rated this a 3.6 or 3.7 based on my initial tasting, if I had bothered to rate it then. Iíll give it another chance fresher, but, letís face it, a lot of IPAs spend at least a month on the shelves, and if the beer canít handle that, especially in a can that has as far as I know constantly been kept refrigerated, itís fair to hold that against it unless it is specifically marketed as a beer that the consumer has to drink immediately.
