drywallman (210), Lake in the Hills, Illinois, USA Jun 1, 2004 This beer didn’t have a longlasting head, which was surprising for a wheat. It had a nice amber color, and was at a nice temperature from the tap at the brewery. This was a lot smoother, and less grainy than most american wheat products. It was a good session brew and I highly recommend it. I also sampled their Dortmunder Export from the tap, but don’t have any of the pertinent info to add it to the database.
acrdz (4535), Boulder, Colorado, USA Aug 26, 2008 Draft at Bent River. Hazed golden orange body. Chunky, bready wheat all over this thing... there’s a light lactic sourness throughout, some stale wood and stale crackers and bread crust. Tastes a bit like unsalted, stale saltine crackers. Medium body, frothy, just a little bit coarse on the palate... but the flavor is downright terrible... old, wet, moldy crackers and bread. Cornfield (4469), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Dec 28, 2006 It seems every brewpub has to produce one of these. It’s good looking with a clear gold body and a frothy white head. Nice lacing, too. It smells of wheat flakes with a spoonful of honey and tastes pretty much the same. More of a Summer brew.

Bent River Brewing Company, Moline, IL
TheEnemy (387), Chicago, USA Nov 22, 2006 On tap.
Pours a clear light gold with little head. Aroma is faint and grassy with a bit of sour-mash. Surprisingly sharp, bitter flavor makes a lasting impression. Some tartness shows in the middle with hints of grassy grain and a big chunk of clean, crisp lager-like hop biterness. Medium, lively bubbly palate. Pretty crisp stuff. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA May 7, 2006 From the tap, served in a standard bar pint glass. Made a good appearance, poured a clear golden hued amber with a foamy white head that settled into a thin lacing, moderate carbonation overall. Had a pale wheat malty nose, fruity, cereal and crackerish, with a subtle lemony hoppiness. A crisp smooth lightish medium bodied mouth feel, above average drinkability. Cereal and crackerish maltiness at first, followed by a sweet fruity maltiness, a light lemony hop bitterness and a fruity malty finish.
A decent wheat ale from Bent River, dry, tasty and quaffable, a nice year around beer.
GeneralGao (2726), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Feb 13, 2006 Draught at the brewpub. Slightly hazy yellow color with thin white head. Vanilla aroma. Slightly sweet with pleasant cereal grain and vanilla flavor. Unusual, but tasty wheat beer.
