Amber in color with a small white head. Very fruity aroma, loads of apricots and red plums, but rather lacking in the pine/spruciness that I’d come to expect from an IPA - (the aroma was very similar to that of the American Wheat that my wife had. She mistakenly took a sip of my IPA and remarked with a "Hell no!" that she had picked up my beer.) Crisp, slightly buttery flavor (diacetyl?) with a touch of pine and caramel. Rye, grainy finish. A good beer, but rather lacking for an IPA.

Hazy gold with a little white head. Grapefruit and peach aroma is very floral and quite mouth-watering. Peach and apricot flavors are very prevalent, lending a nice fruitiness to the sweet flavor. Dry finish. Very refreshing, not as resiny or sticky as so many other hopped-up ales.

On tap @ The Bent River Brewpub. Pours a medium amber color. Aromas of floral hops and something herbal. Flavor is hoppy, herbal with a tart start and a mellow dry finish.

On tap at the brewpub. The body was a slightly hazy medium orange. The aroma was soapy with orange soda. There was also grapefruit and banana peel. The taste had dry grapefruit rind with some toffee and grass. This is decent, but needs a little more body.

this was a good apa on tap at bent rivaer brewing company...... there was a sign at the bar that suggested getting a mix of this and the jalopeno ale... i got a taste of the jalopeno, which was good, but decided to just get this by itself... lots of grapefruit and nice and bitter....

Courtesy of Pailhead. Very light hop aroma, muted in a sense. A little skunky. Initial flavor is sweet caramel malt, with a decent hop kcik at the end. Still has slight skunk character to it. Decent APA.

hand bottle provided by Duane, pours a cloudy orange color with just a little ring of white foam around the inside edge of the glass. huge pine hop aroma, with hints of orange peel. slight malt beginning followed by a ton of pine hops and nuts, then just enough caramel malts to offset the bitterness but still leave the pine behind. the tail is interesting, with the pine holding control, but some orange tones floating around the edges of the taste. a slick and oily mouthfeel ends an interesting brew, with a unique flavor and finish.

Hand Bottled: Courtesy of Duane via trade. Bready and light pine aroma is somewhat weak. Pours a transparent orange with an insignificant white head that quickly becomes a soapy looking ring. Real light malt up front with a great pine hop finish. Very light caramel becomes noticeable as t warms. Aroma hurts the score a little, but obviousy it could have lost a little in the hand bottling process. Still a nice APA.

Ruddy orange with a thin head and a POW of a hop aroma. This has a stoic hoppy basis and a nice fruity twist. Well done.

on tap. last beer of the night on my latest visit to Bent River. a cloudy pale yellow with strong hop aroma. even though I am not a hop head I found this to be a very nice beer with that dry hoppy, bitter finish that leaves you wanting more. to bad more people have not rated this one!

Growler. Nice head and cloudy. Similar appearance to most pale ales. Nice strong aroma. Flavor was a little disappointing considering how pleasant the aroma was. Not nearly as flavorful and hoppy as I expected (considering the previous reviews). Not horrible by any means, but not one of the better pale ales that I’ve had.
