On tap at Bent River brewpub. Hazy amber orange. Aroma of sweet malt and lots of jalapenos. Not surprisingly, the beer is wall to wall jalapenos, but not too spicy. Some malt mixed into the over carbonated 8oz sampler I received. Finishes a touch dry and spicy. Decent, if only in small doses.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy, orange-red colored body with a thin, frothy, off-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a light lacing. Aroma is green, slightly vegetal and spicy jalapeños with a light caramel and a touch of fruit. Flavor is similar. Big pepper and jalapeño with a light spiciness. A bit earthy and vegetal with a light caramel malt to balance everything. A touch of fruit before this finishes dry with a light bitterness and lots of jalapeño with a light heat. Lengthy aftertaste following a light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, not a bad pepper beer. Lots of green jalapeño, but not overly hot or spicy. This was alright.

Tap at Bent River on Nov. 26, 2011. Light gold pour. Aroma and taste is really aggressive jalapeno and pepper. Not my thing.

Growler courtesy of dalzale. Pours mahogany/amber with a dissipating off white head. Smells of fresh jalapenos, caramel, spicy. Tastes of hot pepper up front, caramel, earthy with a hot pepper bite on the finish.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear orange with a white head. Aroma of caramel malt and hot peppers. Flavor of very spicy pepper with a hot finish. Good, but certainly a very hot chile/pepper beer (one of the hottest I’ve had so far). 7/4/8/4/14 [3.7/5]

Date: July 26, 2011 Mode: Draft Source: Bent River Brewpub, Moline, IL Appearance: Translucent golden with almost no head. Aroma: Strong spicy jalapeno. Flavor: Consistent with aroma, thin bodied. Other: Wow, very interesting, the name isn’t lying. A for uniqueness, but not a great choice if you plan to have a different beer after because you feel the heat well after you are done.

On tap. Light clear orange pour, minimal lasting carbonation and an aroma of fresh spicy jalapeno. Flavor started with bitter green pepper and then gradually slides into the fresh cut jalapeno flavor and finishes with a good long burn. Decent beer, but only in small doses.

On tap poured on the darker side of golden with no head. Spicy pepper aroma with some sweet malt trying to peek through. Flavor is dominated by the peppers with a nice amount of heat again with a little malt in the background.

On tap at brewpub, pours a clear golden with no head or lacing, the aroma is has a nice touch of spice and fruit at the same time, there is for sure some spice in the overall flavor but wasn’t one of my favorites at Bent River, glad I tried it once though.

20100608 Tap at brewpub. Ugly golden color, not a lick of head. Lots of good jalapeno pepper flavor, kind of a pickled jalapeno, and the beer is briny and sort of slick. Odd, but oddly quaffable. Excellent amount of heat is at a manageable level, which is to say that it’s just about as hot as a pickled pepper...not that hot. My buddy said it tasted like jalapeno potato chips and I have to say that’s pretty close. not at all an admirable beer, but fun and weirdly tasty. This is the one I got a pint of after the sampler.
