On tap at Bent River brewpub. Mega dark brown with a thin fading tan head. Aroma of roasted/dark malts, chocolate and honey. Taste of roasted and dark malts, honey and mild chocolate. Ok.

Had on tap at the brewpub in a pint glass along with a buddy of mine. Slight honey on the nose but not too apparent in the flavor - must have been more for fermentables. Nice roasted notes with hints of coffee and chocolate.

Shared a growler of this a while back. Pours dark reddish brown and appears black in glass. Aroma is burnt malt and chocolate. Flavor is malt, sweet chocolate and some dark fruits. A little dry but not to bad.

On tap at the brewery in Moline. This is an excellent porter that pours dark brown/black. A thin head on top dissipates quickly and settles in to decent lacing. The aroma is of chocolate, coffee, and a hint of honey. The flavor falls somewhere between sweet and dry and the flavor comes primarily from the caramel and chocolate tones from the crystal and chocolate malts. The honey adds to the dryness on the back on end of the tastes and a very small amount of residual sweetness. A very tasty porter indeed.

The head on this mahogany ale disappeared quickly and left a ring to remember it by. The aroma is a lightly roasted malt with dark caramel and bittersweet chocolate. All are present in the flavor. Unfortunately, a light sourness comes out in the finish, marring what is otherwise a fine Porter.

Draght at the brewpub. Deep dark brown color with some red around the edges. Head was thick, tan, and of moderate longevity. There was only a tiny bit of lace on the glass at the end. Smelled of light chocolate, almost like a tootsie roll. Flavor was also chocolatey with a touch of roasted malt. Dry as a bone on the tongue.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 YourDarkLord (1800) - Urbana, Illinois, USA - JAN 4, 2006
From a growler provided by good beer buddy Rob (RooftopRogue). Beneath a fast disappearing tan head lay a deep dark brown brew. Coffee hits the nose at first. Smoke lurks in the background but it’s subtle. A rich toasted maltiness is evident with a modicum of honey capping it all off. The rap on this is thinness. A more full and robust mouthfeel would add volumes to this otherwise tasty treat.

bottle courtesy of duane from a growler, aroma is strong of coffee, with toast and hops and an underlying honey scent. the pour was a deep mahogany color. it appeared solid in the middle, but the edges had a reddish opacity. pretty sweet flavor, the honey is an underlying taste with a huge toasted malt profile and a bit of coffee, but not nearly as much as i expected from the aroma. the body is pretty thin, and a little bit on the bitter side in the aftertaste until the honey sweetness that sticks to your lips comes through. a nice porter, but based on what Duane said about it, i wish i could have had it last year.

12oz bottle hand bottled from a growler and sent to me in a trade by Duane! Thanks!! Pours black with a short tan head that faded pretty quickly to a film. Aroma is malty, some smoke, very earthy. Flavor is some smokey roasty notes. I can taste the honey in it behind the smokiness and coffee flavor. Not real robust as the flavor seems a little subdued. This is very thin and watery on the palate. Drinkable, malty and sweet though.
