Black pour with a 2 finger, creamy tan head that has great retention and leaves some decent, creamy lacing. Aroma of Snicker doodle cookies, roast, toasted nuts, earth, light chocolate, vanilla, toffee, cinnamon heavy holiday spice and some dark caramel notes. Flavor is roast, lots of toasted nuts, chocolate, coffee, holiday spice, dark caramel (reminds me a bit of Riesen’s candy), light oyster-like saline and mineral notes, a little pine to the finish. Medium body, creamy entry, thinner and more dry finish and a somewhat light and somewhat blanketing carbonation. Really good stuff overall, at least as good as their regular Uncommon Stout, which I like a lot.

It really is a great stout for the holidays as you get all the spices and flavors that scream “holiday” right in your glass/bottle. The vanilla adds a hint of sweetness and the coffee and chocolate really shine in this brew. Add a bit of smokiness from the roasted malts and you have a real winner of beer here. Only available until mid-January I suggest giving this brew a shot if you’re a stout fan.
PURCHASED AT: Hy-Vee Marion, IA
POUR: Deep brown pour with a small tan head.
AROMA: Vanilla, rum, coffee dominate the aroma.
TASTE: Coffee, vanilla, chocolate and smokiness from the malt.

My recommendation: If you need a break from the big imperials this is the perfect beer to take that break with, enjoy it for dessert, watching the game, or it would be even better for breakfast! Cheers!

Black. Bottle. Strong good Coffee aroma, spice aroma,vanilla,cookies.Chocolate. Same in taste. Stronger in coffee.Strong spice/flavors,maybe a bit much. Kind of light in body, litte bit of slickness, a bit thinner than I remembered. Thin or lite tasteing towards the finish.Lacking some fullness/body and richness I was expecting. Good coffee/chocolate and spice taste. Coffee roast linger. Finish is a little bit odd kind of light thins out and astringent. Probably would go better with a desert. Being local to Bent River, my experience with their uncommon and this has been way better on tap than in the bottle which they just started bottleing recently in the last few years.

On tap at the brewery, pours black with a nice tan head, the aroma is of straight fresh coffee, really over takes everything, the flavor has a ton of coffee on the front end with a slight chocolate finish, good stuff, but if you order this make sure you freaking love coffee.
