3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Braudog (4606) - Hampton, USA - JUN 2, 2005
My first of a good lineup at this little brewpub in the Midwest ... Pale yellow with a lightly sticky head. Gooey consistency and a nice fruity essence, tart and smooth.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 BVery (2538) - Burnsville, Minnesota, USA - NOV 26, 2011
Tap at Bent River on Nov. 26, 2011. Super pale yellow with minimal head. Aroma and taste of mild corn. Not very good.
1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 cbfobes (1045) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 17, 2011
On tap at brewery, pours a clear light yellow golden, the aroma and flavor are both boring and forgettable, some grain and metal, I guess this is better than Bud Light but not by much.
1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 fidelis83 (1345) - Clinton, Iowa, USA - SEP 21, 2010
Pale gold pour, fluffy, white head. Aroma is butter, cooked rice and corn, maybe a touch of toffee. Flavor is pretty much buttery corn. Light bodied and a little slick. Meh.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 willblake (2601) - Bel Air, Maryland, USA - JUL 12, 2010
20100608 Tap at brewpub. Thin and bland. Tons of prickly carbonation. A good bit of diacetyl. Unclear what the style is supposed to be, and there are few cues as to which direction they’re going with this one other than to have something on tap for when the customer comes in asking for ’something light’.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Brigadier (1937) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - JUN 7, 2010
On tap at brewpub
A run of the mill golden ale this was bland enough that I did not even try to finish my four ounce sample. Depending on distribution and other factors it may be the best option for a light daily drinker however. I did not have a chance to head over to nearby Blue Cat for a comparison. Assuming I ever make it back to the Quad Cities I will probably be back at Bent River but not for this.
Aroma / Appearance - Golden and carbonated the body percolates with life. Hazy wheat notes sparkle in the air very briefly but then fades like a snowflake in the sun. Lemony undertones give it a citrus base. Overall it needs just a bit more presence.
Flavor / Palate - Citrus and lemon zest are the first obvious hints this has a little kick. The middle is pretty bland until a tart wheaty finish. A reasonably hoppy punch expands the depth marginally. Overall this is a run of the mill golden that could be worse. At the same time it has plenty of room for improvement.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Cavie (3249) - Fort Worth, Texas, USA - MAY 28, 2010
clear lemon yellow pour. Small white ring of head. Some fruit on the nose; crisp grain. Taste is grainy and dry earth. Dry finish. Good flavor.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 drowland (3881) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - AUG 21, 2009
Had on tap at Bent River many times. Bronze medal at the GABF a couple of years ago. A nice sessionable beer mainly for the non-beer-drinkers at BR.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 mtdshn (174) - Moline, Illinois, USA - JAN 8, 2009
Draft. Fairly translucent golden yellow with an average amount of head. Rather doughy/buttery nose. Fairly crisp but biscuity. Unfortunately pretty mediocre and it’s hard to say anything good about it.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 3fourths (6399) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - AUG 26, 2008
Draft at Bent River. Offensively buttery nose, it’s an absolute diacetyl bomb, undrinkable, and nearly unsmellable. Buttery, astringent palate combined with extremely abrasive carbonation. Terrible.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 pepsiedcan (1083) - The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA - APR 30, 2008
hazy gold pour with a thin white head. Grainy citrus aroma and flavor, very little bitterness. Finished too grainy. Ehhhh
