Bottle. Orange-melon malt and orange peel/quinine aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Slightly sweet light orange malt and moderately bitter lemon peel/quinine flavor. This beer is endorsed by Fred Garvin: Male Prostitute.

Bottle: Pours hazy, amber, with a creamy, off-white head. Light caramel and melon scent. Slightly tangy citrus, melon taste. Sharp caramel malt, a little bready and stale.... Not great...a very odd mix of tastes.

Pour from a 12oz bottle, BOM selection. Nice looking darker copper brew, slightly cloudy and luminous. Aroma of light citrus, melon, earth and caramel. Taste is modest sweet malt at the start, crisp fruit / melon emerging in the middle with a wavering citrus crispness arriving late in the swallow. Ends a little sweet yet. Nice palate, very pleasant and enjoyable

Bottle at home. Poured copper, much darker than most pale ales. Mild aroma of ceareal and bread. Slightly malty, slightly hoppy. Looks like an amber, tastes like a pale ale. Boring.

Copper color with an off-white head. Metallic aroma. Some malt on the palate but also has a metallic taste as well. Hopefully this was a bad batch and not how they intended it to taste.

Sub-par ale with a pleasant hop aroma but flawed tongue and palate. Sour rather than bitter, somewhat watery, and with an unpleasant foaminess in the mouth.

On tap at the brewpub. Old notes from June. I was surprised I hadn’t rated this already. Light amber pour with a small khaki head that sticks and laces mildly. Plain aroma, not offensive, some sweet toffee notes, citrus, a bit of a grape kick. Sweeter pale flavor, caramel malts poking through a touch strong for me, citrus hops, doughy. Not bad.

Draft - Caramel and some earthy hops. Clear copper with a decent white head. Earthy hops, light grains and a dry finish. Light bitterness throughout. Decent, but more English.

bottle @ John’s Grocery / Iowa City IA --- Slightly hazy dark amber, good bubbly off-white head that slowly drops to a full cover, thin streaks of lace. Taste is a combination of malt and hops that are not in sync with each other. Each on its own is agreeable, but together, they are in conflict. Carbonation plays a big role in the quick to dissipate finish. Only fair.

On tap and poured into an imperial pint-style sample glass. The aromas are fairly muted, but the notes that are present are a light citrus, grain, some floral, and a light toasted caramel. It’s a clear amber beer with a white, tight bubbled head with a moderate retention and lacing. It’s a medium sweet with a light bitterness. The medium malty body has a slick texture and mildly active carbonation. It has more qualities of an amber beer than an APA - it finishes with toasted caramel and cola. There’s a bit of nuttiness and the aftertaste is a touch floral.
