UPDATED: JUL 21, 2013 Bottle poured mahogany brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Mouthfeel was a bit thin for a stout compared to most. Decent beer but I?d say average for the category.

Dark brown with thin off-white head. Flavor is strong in coffee, but not much else. I expected a far better brew for a 96 rating. Average.

Pours an opaque black with a thin tan head. Nose is of chocolate. Very creamy on the palate. The taste is of coffee, semi-sweet chocolate, dark roasted malt. Fairly bitter on the finish. A good stout that pairs well with popcorn or nuts.

On tap, poured into an imperial pint style sampler. A whole lot of coffee comes through on the nose of this one. Itís dark and black-brown. It comes through a bit clear on the edges when held to the light and it has an off-white head. Only a thin ring is retained and it doesnít leave any lace on the glass. Itís a nice blend of medium light sweet and bitter. The thin texture has a fizzy, soda-like carbonation and a medium malty body. It finishes grainy, with a cola coffee ground finish and a light, fading coffee aftertaste.

Probably not as mild as a sweetstout but fer sure up there in commonly good stoutly stouty attributes. Cutting co2 combined with ever so slight tart impact between the lips. Impressive without being to rude. Lots of coffee fer, perhaps a tad too much,. Coffee smell and coffee palate all round.

Motor oil pour, quick head. Nose is burnt grain and coco. Sweet. Medium mouth feel. Middle is ice coffee and pumpernickel. Finish is medium, lasting bitterness. Good after hearty food (chicken and dumplings for me this time).

Coffee and barley aroma. Dark brown with minimal tan head. Coffee forward in taste, roasted barley, and chocolate finish. Medium body. A refreshing stout when youíre in the mood for a cup of coffee.

12 oz bottle from Hy-Vee Muscatine. Black appearance with an average tan head and sticky lacing. Rich aroma of fresh coffee notes, roasted malts and milk chocolate. Similar flavor, plenty of coffee, a little bit one-dimensional, but it works for me. Medium body with soft carbonation, pretty easy to drink. Hell yśh.

Bottle - Mahogany pour with ruby highlights and a tan head. Nose is overroasted coffee, ashy roast, and a bit of milkiness. Still smells pretty good. Taste has coffee, but lots of ashtray. Tons of ashy roast overpower the coffee, vanilla, and milky sugary notes. Plastic notes too, before it warms up a bit. Real thin with some biting carb. I get why this is high rated, but not my cup of tea.
