Dark reddish-brown pour with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malt hits you during the pour. Nice coffee aroma also. Taste is light coffee, roasted malt, Thin but very tasty. It left a very pleasant aftertaste.

On tap at brewpub. Black color with no head, don’t know if it had one before it got to the table. Aroma all coffee. Taste strongly coffee, some malts and roast, bit of chocolate. Palate pretty thin, can’t call this "medium-bodied" as in the description. Finish a little coffee bitterness. Alcohol not apparent.

I liked this but the palate needed more fullness and the flavor is really more coffee than beer. Nothing wrong with that if you like coffee which I do. Decent beer that went well with my hamburger.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a black body with a thin, frothy, light tan head that dissipates quickly and leaves a light lacing. Aroma is big, fresh coffee with some cream, a light chocolate, and a medium roast. Flavor is similar. A bit thin, but a nice roast and fresh coffee up front with a light, balancing cream and chocolate. Finishes pretty dry with a medium roasty and coffee, slightly earthy bitterness before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, not a bad sweet stout. Lots of fresh coffee and a solid roast with a decent hopping and a light creamy chocolate malt backing.

This is about the 10th time I’ve had this beer, I think it’s time to rate it.

The beer pours a very dark brown color with a small head and some lacing on the glass.

The aroma is brilliant and pungent with lots of dark roasty coffee. The coffee character in the aroma of this particular glass of beer is about as fresh and brilliant as I could ever ask for in a coffee beer. The aroma is lightly sweet in a kind of fruity way, but it’s really about the coffee.

The flavor is much of the same from the aroma, it’s like a wonderful wonderful iced dark roasted coffee. The bitterness level is moderate to high and the sweetness is present but well controlled.

The carbonation is perfect, bubbly enough to carry the beer nicely (as beer) but mild enough to make this beer not seem like a "coffee soda" or something.

wonderful beer.

Growler obtained 11/26/11 at the brewery. Finally opened 12/31/11. Dark tan head and coffee dark body. Aroma and taste of roasted coffee, a little caramel and cinnamon also. Balanced by just enough herbal hops. Smooth drinking with a slight sweet tendency.

Poured from growler (thanks Chris V!). This stout has some good things going on here. The pour was fairly standard, with a deep cola colored, semi-opaque body, and a layer of rich cream head. Fairly light on the nose, but there are some decent roasty coffee beans, and deep, dark malts. The feel is mellow and well carbonated, but still nicely creamy. Flavors are little muddled up front, but rich and tasty through the finish. Again, good roasted coffee and cocoa, earth, and minor dark estery fruits. This was pretty decent overall. I liked this.

Tap at Bent River on Nov. 26, 2011. Dark brown pour with a smaller head. Huge espresso aroma and taste - really bold and interesting.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of toasted and burnt bread, coffee grounds, and espresso. Flavor of LOTS of espresso, coffee grounds, mocha. So much coffee and so so good. Outstanding coffee beer, this is a good one for sure. 8/4/10/4/17 [4.3/5]
