700ml bottle, off the shelf, Doyles, Dingle. Deep Brown Black pour, thin mocha head. Intense coffee nose, milk chocolate, some resin, rubber. Flavour follows the nose, coffee dominates, liquorice, aniseed, some understated hop background. Slick, oily palette, full body. Finish is not overly long, but nicely balanced.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask at WJK, Dublin. Deep dark coal black with tan froth. Aroma is coffee, dark chocolate, raisins, hints of peat and smoke, some red fruit. Taste is brilliant: big coffee/chocolate hit followed by plenty of dark fruit and light but meaty smoked notes. Some sweetness to balance out the earthy hop tones. Full mouthfeel. Absolutely delicious; a bit of a rarity, but certainly worth seeking out.
