Hand pulled at the Wetherspoons under the Central Library, Birmingham. Mr Veasey says you know what you’re getting with Beowulf, which is pretty much true - usually you’re getting a mediocre golden beer. Which this is. Errrrr.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2012 Try it again! My bottle poured correctly. A well-balanced, tasty, bitter with the accent on roasted or kilned malt. Would buy again. (bottle).

Bottle. On the label it is called Foldcross but I assume that its the same beer. Doesn’t really matter as its pretty poor. Exploded out of the bottle on opening despite being kept properly.Big head that never dissipated -it was like drinking alcoholic foam. Some bitterness but it was hard to enjoy such a badly bottled beer.In hindsight my score is a bit too generous.

Cask conditioned handpump Coach & Horses Wellingborough. A hazy amber coloured beer with a whitish head and lace. Good orangey hops and full fruits throughout. Good bitterness and good body. Hops are pretty lovely.

Cask handpull, The Dragon, Worcester. Honey amber, slim beige top. Slightly bilious citrus aroma with apple, honey and lemon accents; mouth far better with the house fullness of body, good discreet apple and apricot fruit, chunky biscuit malts, choc hints, Hobnob linger. You know what you’re getting with Beowulf.
