UPDATED: JAN 15, 2004 Cask at the Old Joint Stock, Birmingham. Excellent winter brew, bursting with flavour. This is a fragrant and fruity brew, that packs an initially tropical punch, with grapefuit, peach, and pineapple notes jostling on your tongue. Further into your mouth, it settles down slightly, becoming plainer, dryer, with some prickling alcohol notes. Very good stuff.

Cask, somewhere in Birmingham. Brown pour with an off white head. Aroma of dark fruits, malts and raisins. Same aspects in flavour, fairly sweet and with a bitter finish.

Almost frozen, handpull, tent, The Shoes, Nuneaton. Expect big things from a dark Beowulf..Foaming, beautifully conditioned dark ruby beer with a rocky cream foam. Buttery roast, insole aroma. Finely sieved roast, spiced apple, Battenburg- discreetly boozy with a suck of Minstrel. Theres also a hay-like, sherbety, Sheppish hop streak. Very sheppish. Good but not brilliant- a little watery for a 5.8% Beowulf. But then the standards are high.
