Cask conditioned - handpump - Malt Shovel Northampton. A copper coloured bitter with a citrus hop aroma. The taste is also reasonably hoppy with sharp lemon notes. A nice enough drink.

Cask gravity, 2nd Hinckley Beer Festival. Lidless honey gold. Nose has faint doggy sulphur, grape and orange. Creamy biscuit, rasping bitterness, distinct Twiglet, dab of apple yeastiness, more grape and orange, husky nut linger. Impressively hopped, solid festival opener.

Cask@2nd Hinckley Beer Festival, 2009. Bronze beer with a light foamy head. The aroma is bitter and grassy hopped, and the flavour is grassy, bitter, toffee and hopped. Overall a nice bitter, hopped and toffee beer.

Hand pulled at the Old Joint Stock, Birmingham. This is confusing - Lea has rightly entered this as a Bitter, cos that’s what they call it, but it’s an archetypal Golden/Blond: where does one become the other?? Anyway... this is another of Beowulf’s Golden beers, all with sharing a number of characteristics: dry hops, sticky mouthfeel, some fruit and floral notes. This is one of the better examples - pretty clean and crisp, with nice dryness on the finish, and good balance. Refreshing and flavoursome.

Golden with a small white head. Aromas are grain and lemon. Flavours are dry and hoppy with citrus notes. There are some floral hops on the finish. A nice dry hoppy bitter.
