Cask at GBBF 2010, 4th Aug 2010. Deep brown with little head. Nose of milk chocolate and then tons of alcohol. Likewise in the mouth, alcoholic burn at first and then roasted malt and chocolate notes come through. If they could dial back the booziness, this could be great.

Bottle, Dark very impressive appearance. Slightly spicy with plenty of body. Impressive.

500ml bottle from Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. Quite good. Treacley, but not like a stout.

0.5 l bottle from GBBF2011. Opaque dark brown, a gusher. The aromas of woody chocolate, toffee, fruity wine gums, damp cellar and hint of solvent. Sweet toffeish and caramelly flavor with hint of earthy peat and barnyard.

Sampled from bottle at Scopeys 2nd East Croydon Beer tasting, thanks to Leighton. Dark brown to black color with a dark red glow coming through, huge beige head. Smell fruits, grapes, not much more. Taste fruity, grapes, sweet. Sticky mouthfeel, decent carbo, medium body.

Bottle at the 2nd East Croydon Beer Tasting, thanks to Leighton. It pours very dark brown, with ruby highlights and a decent beige head. The nose is nail varnish remover, sweet ripe berry (blueberry & cherry) and syrup. The taste is sweet blueberry, blackberry, roasted malt, wood, dryness, alcohol warmth and chocolate, with a dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. This is indeed a big mild.

Bottle at East Croydon Beer Tasting. Pours dark brown with ruby highlights, a sturdy beige head. Fruity, dark malt aroma. Medium big sweet flavor, some dough, dark fruits, semi-dark sugars. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Faint warm finish, plenty of sugars, more fruits, some bread and dough. Not bad.

Syrupy sweet toffee malts ...lots of licorice .some bubblegum esters , ..boozy erratic profile . An unslick but interesting take on a Mild ale on drugs.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 10, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.

Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, chocolate, light alcohol. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, chocolate, dark malt, alcohol. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. Very ncie too but was not as special. VEry strong but a little watery not so noticeable the roasted grains features either.

500ml bottle. Pours very dark brown with a small head. Aroma is rich fruity malt. Some blackcurrant and licorice. Blackcurrant and licorice to start on the taste. Much the same on the finish. Very nice, warming, but not overpowering.
