downender (1785), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Aug 28, 2007 From bottle in a cafe in Talmont-sur-Gironde, France 23/8/07. Amber coloured with a slight white head. Aroma of sweet red fruit. Flavour was also sweet but with some warming alcohol and a touch of hops in the finish. A bit clinical for me, but ok. Boutip (1914), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jun 30, 2004 Bottle: Poured a clear amber colored beer with a medium head with more or less of retention. Aroma is quite special and the only way I can describe this is like very salty corn. Taste is also very similar to the aroma and reminiscent of fresh corn with salt and ending with a smoke feeling. The label mentioned cognac being used in this beer and I’m not sure of the impact of this on the beer. I’m not sure I would drink this on a regular basis but not too bad as a one off.
