COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Translated from French: Born from the mix of two specialties that have forever existed but have never dared meet until now: BEER and COGNAC. To make this new specialty beer which is at the same time surprising, creative and extremely good quality, we have decided to associate excellency in the field of wine distilation and beer brewing. La Talmondaise is a beer with complex aromas and adeep taste which lingers in the mouth. Its aroma and bouquet come from the limestone of the cliffs of Talmont where the grapes ripened before being distilated and aged

Bottle 33cl from @mondial de la bière. A clear golden amber beer with low head. Nose is fruity on raspberry ! Aroma is fruity and dry, caramel malt, body is low but the beer has a nice perfume, slight cognac notes, not bad should be a bit more robust.

bottle form La Cervoiserie. Cognac beer? interesting, given that the brewery is right outside of the fame town of Cognac, France. It seems that they do not barrel age the beer but instead, and according to label, they add 5% of cognac (80 proof) to the beer for 21 days, the result is interesting. a copper color, light tan head. aroma, light notes of cognac, a little too yeasty and lusty, some faint caramel-sugar, possibly dark fruits. flavors were well used for this 7%abv, not too boozy, cognac is mild and enjoyable, some grassy hops and somehow the musty aspect I was getting in the nose makes room for a nicer mouthfeel. Some residual caramelized brown sugar, malts, the addition of the cognac gives room for a faint vanilla sweetness. As the beer warms up, the cognac becomes more present and nice on the palate, some chocolate notes could noted along with the caramel. Tasty and interesting.

From bottle in a cafe in Talmont-sur-Gironde, France 23/8/07. Amber coloured with a decent off-white head. Sweet malt aroma with a whiff of spirits. Fruity flavour with a warming alcohol finish. Ok.

(Embrasse-Moi): Grainy, sweet, doughy aroma. Clear copper coloured body is topped by a low but lasting cream coloured head that leaves scant lace. Doughy flavour is mildly boozy with a grainy character and some grape and raisin fruitiness. Surprisingly strong bitterness appears in the finish and seems to overshadow the rest of the flavour. Medium body with soft carbonation to match. Sampled at Mondial 2006.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a clear amber with a small, off-white head leaving a discreet lacework. Exotic, somewhat perfumy aroma. Medium-bodied with rather sophisticated and perfumy notes. Some alcohol in the finish. Not unpleasant as such, but I’m not sure I really need Cognac in my beer. 150906
