09.11.2012. On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Yellow with white head. Aroma dominated by bitterness with lots of hops. Dry. Flavours of green spruce shoots. Medium body with rather weak malty nots. There is maybe so much hops that the malts gets in he back. I think this tastes more lika a IPA than a Bohemian pilsner?

In short: An crisp, clean and bitter citrusy IPA with a grassy twist. Good beer
How: Tap at Cardinal, Stavanger Norway (made exclusively for this bar)
The look: Clear dark blond body topped by a medium white head with good retention and leaving lots of lacings on the glass
In long: The uber-hoppy nose is vibrant of freshness with Saaz-ish dry grassy hops and American stylke citrus fruits hops. Taste is very much hop-forward. The malt backbone is like crushed plain crackers (unsalted Premium Plus™), a bit doughy and without much sweetness related flavors. A hefty amount of hops that feels like a bastard hopping between a citrusy (mostly bitter white grapefruits) American hops and dry grassy Saaz-like hops with a spicy twist. Maybe a bit too razor sharp in the finish which brings a little acidity sensation in the finish. This is a superior thirst beer, totally underrated. Brewed exclusively for Cardinal in Stavanger, Norway’s best beer bar, and let me tell you something about the beer selection in Cardinal, even if scientifically impossible if Cardinal had an all-you-can-drink night I would find a way to drink twice as much as that.

Tap @ Cardinal. Pour golden with a white head. Notes of grassy hops and malts. Reminds me more of a more hopped and richer Rogalands Pilsner from Berentsen.

Medium offwhite head. Clear yellow body. Light, grassy herbal aroma with vague fruity notes. Dry grassy citric taste with, again, vague fruity notes. Mid-to-light body. Sharpish mouthfeel. Dry grassy grainy aftertaste with resiny metallic notes. Quite nice and drinkable. A bit sharp and vague, though. (0.5l draft at Cardinal, Stavanger.)

On tap @ Cardinal. Clear golden with a really nice and stable off-white head. Relatively mild but distinct grassy aroma with a hint of pine. Flavor is sweet malt with a grassy bitterness leading to a dryer finish. Medium body and more grassy hops in the aftertaste. OK and refreshing, but not any complexity at all, this is almost just grassy and bitter. Missing some fruitiness here.

On tap at Cardinal. A more or less clear one, golden in color and with a dense, two-finger white head. Lacings too. The aroma is piney and citrus peel-like, with some maltyness in the back. Medium body, too heavy on carbonation. Pleasantly blended flavor with citrus peel, pine cones and maltyness. Not really dry, nor anything near sticky. A quite pleasant one, almost quenching, and quite tasteful. 120626
