3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 akevitt (97) - Valhalla, USA - APR 30, 2008
Bottle from trade with yngwie. The beer was clear dark brown with thin tan foam. The aroma was dominated by caramel malt. In the flavor I got caramel malt with some mild spices, and alcohol. I am also skeptical about its classification as a Barley Wine. It has very Bock-ish characteristics.

Dark reddish colour. Burnt almond, raisins and prunes. I like the mouth-feel, but I’m not that enthusiastic about the alcoholic aftertaste. Interesting! (Thanks to Rune for bringing a 330ml bottle to the second beer session in Tårnrommet 13.01.09)

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 evanrail (54) - Prague, CZECH REPUBLIC - JUL 2, 2009
Plummy fruit and fruitcake spice on the nose; cocoa-toasty in the mouth. In July, it seems to be in surprisingly good condition, fresh and fairly vibrant for a strong beer. Good but for me not quite a standout.

Bottle@Home. Thanks Yngwie! Aroma of licorice, plum and a little lactic. Ruby color, light brown head, very nice lace. Sweet, very bitter, burnt sugar start, licorice, lightly spiced, hints of chocolate and coffee. Soft and sticky mouthfeel. Flavorful, well drinkable, seems more alcoholic than 7.5% ABV.

Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet with odd notes of spices, alcohol, and raisiins, but not bad. The flavor is sweet with notes of brown sugar, alcohol, metal from the alcohol, and over ripe fruits.
