BDR (1846), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Apr 27, 2008 Thanks to akevitt. Grainy malt aroma with very light chocolate malts. Milk chocolate body with a grainy bite. Interesting.
Skyview (2637), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA May 26, 2008 Sampled at BDR’s tasting and shared by akevitt. Pours a semi-clear caramel amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and ring, and leaves behind a spotty lacing. Aroma of brown and caramel malt, some light brown sugar, toffee and some smoked wood. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonated with flavors of toasted dark malt, milk chocolate and a touch of licorice. Finish is slightly bitter, a tad gritty texture with some toasted and burnt dark malt flavors. akevitt (93), Valhalla, Minnesota, USA Apr 30, 2008 Bottle from trade with yngwie. The beer was clear brown with thin eggshell color foam. In the aroma and flavor I got malt, mild spices, some alcohol, and an unusual smokiness.
zeke626 (173), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Apr 28, 2008 Thanks to akevitt for sharing. Bottle, pours a toffee brown body with light brown head. Aroma of malts, sugar, and a hint of smoked sausage. Burnt malt flavor with a slight bit of alcohol. Smooth mouthfeel with a body that seems a bit light for the style. JK (2341), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Apr 27, 2008 Mild aroma of malt. Dark brown and a sizeable head. Not very true to style, but good anyway. Malt flavor, a little sweet, lightly roasted. Very good palate, rich and heavy.
