Mild aroma of malt. Dark brown and a sizeable head. Not very true to style, but good anyway. Malt flavor, a little sweet, lightly roasted. Very good palate, rich and heavy.

Bottle. Pours crimson brown, with a nice creamy head. Aroma is roasted malts, with good chocolate and coffee. Flavour is coffee, dark chocolate and nuts.

Bottle at home. Very deep redbrown colour with a creamy beige head. Aromas of leather and dark chocolate. Leather also present in the mouth along with some coffee roast and chocolate. A slick to oily mouthfeel. Medium bitterness. A well-balanced beer and a pleasant porter for the festive days.

Bottle (33cl) from Vinmonopolet, Oslo. Clear, dark reddish brown colour. Inch-thick beige head, quite sticky with a good deal of lacing. Aroma of malt, caramel, vegetables, licorice, alcohol. Taste is semi-sweet, malty and fruity with a fairly dry, spicy finish dominated by licorice. Good balance. Medium/light body (a tad watery), average/soft carbonation.

Bottle enjoyed at home
Dark brown, finger thick tanned head that leaves very nice laces. Smells of caramel, clove, raisins, nuts and prunes. Full matl body with markant but not dominant sweetness, dried fruits and caramel. Nice bitter finish. One of the absolute best of the traditional style norwegian christmas beer.

Sampler from bottle at Nærbø Ølfestival 2011. Short lived film on a clear deep mahogany body. Dried dark fruits on the nose. Medium to full body. Sweet, fruity, toasted, prune juice and malts in the mouth. Dry tongue.

Dark-dark mahogany body with a beige head. Aroma of spice, licorice, roasted malt, figs and rasins. Rich body with a thick texture, and mouthfeel. I look forward to this "juleøl" from Berentsen every year.

Bottle at the courtesy of Rune. Medium high creamy lasting off-white head. Clear dark ruby body. Coffee cocoa roasted malt dried fruit relatively sweet and yet pleasant aroma. Mild and sweet roasted malt with coffee cocoa dreied fruit and little hops bitterness. The balance is however good and the beer is not too sweet. Short aftertaste.
