3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ElDesmadre (944) - Mikołów, POLAND - MAY 2, 2013
Bottle, traded with Cunningham. More or less a classic brown ale, with an aroma of caramel, raisins and forest fruit (especially blueberries). The palate is watery yet the flavour is there - caramelly and fruity upfront and slightly roasted-coffeeish in the malty, medium bitter finish. Good, sessionable brew.

Aroma has grainy malt, berries and some cardboard. Flavour has berries, cardboard, malty notes and nuts. Feels like a malty lager (or an alcoholfree one). Not very nice.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Bathory (360) - Bryne, NORWAY - MAR 21, 2013
Pours a brown, almost see-through colour with a beige head. Aroma of raisins, caramel and nuts. Earthy taste, dough, nuts and some raisins in the taste. There is one positive thing and one negative. The balance between the different tastes is very good! On the bad side I think they could have got some more depth and thicker body with this. Overall, this is a beer I enjoyed and could easily have again if I wanted a low alcohol beer.

Bottle, courtesy of Gunnar and shared with Bergen Beer Geek Tasting Crew. Pours a deep brown body with a red hue and a small off-white creamy head. Nose is vanilla, cocoa, brown sugar and hints of raisins. Very mild though. Taste is mild chocolate and grain notes, nuts and hints of burnt toast and licorice. A bit faint, but fairly pleasant. Creamy body, soft carbonation. Nice enough for a Norwegian grocery store ale.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Palme (2252) - Bergen, NORWAY - FEB 11, 2013
0.5l bottle courtesy of Gunnar and shared with The Tasting Crew. Thanks Gunnar! This is a clear dark brown one with quite a bubbly, sidesticking light ashy top. It smells quite dusty with old chocolate, some cold coffee, buttery dark sugar cookies and it smells a bit dry in a way. It’s guite average carbonated with a light oily mouthfeel. Taste is quite alright. Bitter cold coffee, some more traces of dusty chocolate with watery berries and chocolate paper. Not bad actually, perhaps a bit watery in the taste but it’s somewhat interesting. 09.01.2013
