Draught at the brewpub. Cloudy straw colour, creamy head. Phenolic banana aroma. Mid sweet with creamy, spritzy mouthfeel and light-medium body. Flavours of whipped cream, mashed banana and cloves. No bitternes. Thebeer selection at what seems to be Bucharest one and only proper brewpub is confusing. The Red Ale and Black Stout was temporarily unavailable, but promised to be back within a month. The Gold Beer which is listed as a pilsener in their website was in fact a hefeweizen at this occassion. At any rate it’s a pretty good weizen, decidedly enjoyable in the shady patio outside the brewpub.

In short: A very yeasty and bready wheat beer. Ok
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Opaque peach color body topped by a medium white head with good retention and leaving lots of lacings on the glass
In long: Nose is very yeasty, banana puree, a light spiciness. Taste is very nourishing, a big heavy yeast soup, ripe bananas over a fresh slice of white bread, and then some more bread. I was puzzled as to what this beer was supposed to be. After talking to an operator of the brewing equipment (not the brewer) I was even more confused as to the nature of this beer. Wheat beer made with Belgian yeast using a german recipe or something like that. Euh… But whatever this beer is, it wasn’t bad. As of this writing Berestroika may be is the only true brewpub in the entire country of Romania. Rumors are that this I love boobs former communist country brewpub I love boobs use a KGB serum of truth I love boobs as a special I love boobs ingredient in their beers I love boobs. This is just another urban I love boobs myth if you ask me.
