minutemat (1880) - Ford, Shropshire, ENGLAND - DEC 15, 2014
330ml bottle, shared between 5 at the Tenth Shrewsbury Bottle Share, Dec 14, brought by me, thanks to Benzai for the swap. Big malty, grainy aroma. Taste is molasses with a very subtle chili hit. Fairly weak but still some nice roasted flavours.

BlackHaddock (4144) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - DEC 9, 2014
33cl bottle shared between five at the 8th December 2014 Shrewsbury Bottle Exchange Group meeting: cheers Mat for bringing this. Dark brown body with a tanned topping. Struggled to find any ’chilli’ worth mentioning, mild flavours throughout to be honest, malty and slightly chocolate in nature but a bit of a let down with the alcohol level not helping the beers cause too greatly either. A weak Porter in depth, flavour and alcohol: expected so much more.

oh6gdx (20919) - Vasa, FINLAND - NOV 27, 2014
Bottled (backlog). Deep brown colour, small beige head. Aroma is toasted malts, coffee, mild spices as well as some nutty notes. Flavour is spices, mild toasted notes along with some wood, caramel, mild alcohol and some slight burning in the finish and aftertaste.

Maakun (826) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - NOV 26, 2014
Bottle. Black with fast disappearing beige head that leaves some nice bubbles. Coffee and some licorice, dry spicy notes and some tart fruits (black berries) and some young walnuts. Don't really get much chili here, but overall a nice porter, quite dry and complex. Good stuff for 4% ABV.

mmahut (1121) - CZECH REPUBLIC - OCT 10, 2014
Bottle. Dark body, medium creamy tan head. Aroma has dark chocolate, toasty nose, little bit of tabacco ash. Taste has high roasty bitterness, very little chilli in the after taste, almost not noticiable. Medium acidic sweetness in the finish. Body is medium, flat carbonation. The chilli is hidden.

bottle shared with dennoman and kraddel, thanks to kermis. Coffee aroma but an overly watery palate. Bit of a buummer.

Thanks to bierkoning! Pours a dark almost black colour with a tanned head. Strong nutty/fruity aroma, some sweet notes there. Roasted nutty flavour, great balance between bitter and sweet. Goes down smooth, medium bodied.

(Berghoeve 1842 Hammer Brand Chili Porter) Bottle 330ml, thanks to bierkoning. Poured into a snifter, ABV 4% Very deep brown, almost totally black colour on the body, small but thick brown head, with very good retention, leaving medium lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, lactic, pepper, chillies. Taste has rostiness, light chocolate and coffee, not as much burn as I expected, the chilli barely notable on the back of the throat. Good though. Thin body, soft carbonation. For a 4% beer is more than good.

ElDesmadre (1716) - Mikołów, POLAND - AUG 8, 2014
Bottle, traded with Bierkoning. Awesome aroma of cocoa, chocolate, tobacco, some coffee and roast. Deep and very pleasant. The taste doesn’t live up to the expectations, could definitely use more body and depth. Very earthy flavour, with a chocolate-coffee-roast finish, leaving behind notes of tobacco. The chili luckily isn’t upfront but it warms the throat a bit, taking over the role of the ABV. Good beer but I was expecting more.
