Imperial Black IPA, brewed for Harry Pinkster to celebrate his 10.000th tasted beer. Will most probably remain in the portfolio with a name to be announced under the Berghoeve brand.

Bottle in the sunshine at 2:00 pm on a Sunday. FTW! Pours black with a frothy, tan head. The high abv is quite evident in the aroma, also dark chocolate and sweet berry. Great palate, rich and heavy with a monster bitter finish. Flavour is heavy on the burnt bitterness, long finish. There is nothing here I don’t like.

Full bodied beer, with cherries, coffee, roasted maltschocolate and forest fruits. Quite some sweetnes from the malts but balanced by bitterness. Very enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

dark brown colour, one inch creamy beige head, which lasts for several minutes; aroma of cocoa, liqueur notes, some wood, ash and hints of overripe tropical fruits; taste of dark chocolate, syrupy sweetness, herbal liqueur, overripe fruits and roasted notes; really great black IPA

Stor smag af alt det der skal være i en stout, fint med humlen der afrunder en hæftig øl.

330 ml bottle from my EU Secret Santa, thanks!
Black body, with a big, creamy, coffee-colored head.
Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, some coffee, tropical fruits, orange.
Tastes of chocolate, coffee, biscuit, citrus, orange, some tropical fruits, some vanilla, alcohol.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes alcohol warming, roasty, moderate dry, a bit sweet, zesty, a bit fruity, with coffee, chocolate, cocoa, wood, some liquorice.

Tasty. The hops are a bit more in the background, but providing pretty tropical fruit notes. Although alcoholic, very smooth overall, because of quite a lot of dark malty layers. Characterful BIPA how I like it.

0,33l bottle at home shared by Saeglopur, big thanks. BB 03/2017. black color, small dark coffee-colored head. smells strongly of coffee, licorice, marzipan, nuts, toasted malts, hints of hops. quite nice smell. full body, light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes rather alcoholic, some coffee, marzipan, licorice, some nuts, toasted malts again, a bit glueish, again only hints of any hops. finishes alcoholic with notes of coffee and licorice. overall good stuff, if I did not know this was supposed to be a Black IPA I would put it down as a Imp Porter or Imp Stout, good stuff, alcohol a bit too aggressive though.

Bottle thanks to RW80 through European Beer Swap. Cheers, Robert! Aroma: Cascade (peach and resin), small malty side: roast, chocolate, bit of alcohol. Appearance: Dark head, high and dense, quickly dissapears with hiss, color is black. Taste: alcohol, chocolate and roast, some sweet fruity notes, low bitterness, some malty sweetness. Palate: Finish is booze and sweetness, carbonation is low, body is medium-high. I think I kept the beer to long in the fridge (but just more than 2 weeks). :/

Bottle at Café De Koffer Groningen, Netherlands, Sunday 4th October 2015 (late afternoon sat outside) Black as yer’ ’at with a creamy textured beige head. A big BIPA but surprisingly subdued on the hoppy front, it’s hoppy but not mega hoppy, it’s a bit roasty and good malty body. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6
