From the draft at The Winterbier Festival in Hoogeveen, shared glass. Apperance:Allmost black with a small head. aroma: Roasted malts and chocolate upfront with some light citrus, grapefruit in the background. Taste: Roasted malts, chocolate coffee upfront, citrus hops in the back, In the finish some spicyness pours through as well as more orange peel, leaving a citrus and bitter aftertaste with tones of chocolate but here the bitterness is clearly from the hops. medium body, a bit fizzy carbonation. Only light IPA characteristics, The Black part is very well done, but I did get the idea the IPA part was bit underdeveloped. overall a bit better as average.

On tap at Winterbierfestival Haarlem. Black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, alcohol, a hint of hops. Taste is bitter sweet, roasted malts, chocolate, bit of hoppy roasted bitterness in the ending. Very nice.

Bottle from trade with bierkoning, thanks Edo! Extreem gushing!!!

Bottle from lekkerbier, BB early 2017, large sample. Opens with a big sssh, but only after a minute starts gushing like a madman. Seems to be a bit too much yeast particles as there remains a cloudy dark brown colored beer with a huge light brown head. Aroma is indeed a bit yeasty, some roast, grapefruit, pine, dark chocolate, dark bread, coffee. Medium bitter taste, mostly from dark roasted malts actually. Some sweetness. Again coffee and dark bread in flavor. High carbonation, medium body. Should try a proper version and rerate. Still has potential.

Bottle. Chocolate and alcohol dominates in aroma. Alcohol (also fusel) dominates also in flavor. Bitter finish. Dark brown color with beige head. Full body, oily, warming alcohol, moderate carbonation. Warming winter drinking. I think some aging could make it better. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Gusher but what was left was very tasty. I love beers like this. Complex, dark, beautiful. Bottle from Mitra Vismarkt in Groningen.

Bottle split at CBC Clerko, thanks to an IP trade with Bierkoning, 30/09/14. Light black to extremely dark mahogany brown with a decent tan covering. Nose is big on roasty tones, earthy, spice, pine, dark fruit, hint tropicana. Taste comprises more big roast, light booze, spice, liqourice, dark chocolate, light pine. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok CDA, a little too hot though.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Almost black colour, big beige head. Aroma of blueberries, grapefruit, roasted malts, liquorice, charcoal, chocolate, earth, some alcohol, not your average BIPA. Flavour is sweet, fruity, currants, blueberries, grapefruit, charcoal, liquorice, some bitter chocolate, yeast, decent bitter finish, earthy and light ashy. Medium bodied. Over-carbonated, but a few swirls tackled that problem.
