Bottle, trade with Bierkoning, huge thanx! Barva: hnědočerná s rubínovou jiskrou, kalná. Pěna: řidší, nedržící. Vůně: lahodná kávově karamelová. Chuť: výborné silné ale s vyváženou chutí, středně až více hořké, sladový střed a nádherná chmelová koncovka. Přestože jde o silné pivo, alkohol cítit nejde. Chutný kousek.

Vintage Ale 2011, 33cl bottle from bierkoning, merci. Quite subdied mature prune, soy and caramel vintage ale/barley wine with acceptable ABV character. Drinkable, none too sweet and I’d imagine ideal for winter cooking/sauces.

Thanks bierkoning! Vintage 2011. Dark brown color, small beige head. Caramel, yeast, alcohol, light spiceyness. Medium-bodied. A bit earthy, Prunes, raisins, notes of Madeira. Tasty, perhaps slightly past its prime.

Bottle from bierkoning (Edo) @ De Bierkoning, shared with Alice & Jan. Brown color, not much head. Aroma’s of raisins, dried fruit, toffee. Flavor is much like coffee at first, then moderately sweet, roasted, dried fruit, raisins. Alcohol is warming. Medium bodied. Long finish with no new flavors. Clearly aged, in a nice way.

Bottle at Rooie Dop, Utrecht at the RBESG 2013 opening night. Poured a clear medium brown with a broken off-white head. The aroma is of red berry fruit and alcohol. The taste is medium alcoholic bitter with toffee and caramel and some liqourice in the finish. The alcohol is well controlled and does not dominate. This is a really special beer.

caesar (4711) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - JUN 29, 2013
Bottled @ Rooie Dop. Hazy ruby color, short head. Aroma of raisin, caramel, hint of madeira, soft fruity hops and fruity english yeast notes. Some sweetness in taste as well as some bitterness. Lovely balanced in the typical English Barley wine style. Great that the brewer himself lets this beer sit in the bottle for quite a while, before wanting to sell it. Lovely balance, great complexity. Superb stuff.
