Gurst (328), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Mar 16, 2005 Has a crisp, fruity aroma. Perhaps a combination of grapefruit, grapes, and and lemon. Very tastey though. Flavor is suprising considering the fruity aroma. Tastes very light, malty, and medium. The aftertaste quickly fades from malt to water, which isn’t a bad thing, gives you a taste in your mouth that craves another sip.
hogan873 (215), Joliet, Illinois, USA Dec 30, 2008 This was in a Berghoff sample pack and was called Rock River Red Ale...I’m assuming it’s the same thing. Anyway, nice copper body with a thin but lasting white head. The aroma is very light, but I can note some citrus and caramel. Clean, bright palate with lots of carbonation. The flavor is surprisingly good. Sweet up front...caramel and maybe apple. Clean and hoppy at the end. Seems a bit more like a lager than a pale ale. Good brew, though. kassner (228), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 18, 2008 On tap while waiting for flight at Ohara. Nice but almost a lager. Lots of buttery notes, good head and clean finish Baumgartner (72), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Aug 20, 2008 Bottle poured to glass. Pours a amber color with slight red hue and average white head. Great flavor but falls a little short for some reason. jebert (66), Watertown, Wisconsin, USA Aug 4, 2008 Pours a beautiful amber hue with a light tan head. Aroma is hops and citrus. Creamy smooth on the palate, its flavor is carmel and malt. Fairly dry finish. Nice beer but not exceptional, it pairs well with snacks or cheese and crackers. naivepegasus (159), USA Jun 8, 2008 Pours orange with a hint of read with a finger of rapidly dissipating stark white head. Caramel notes in the odor. A very light mouthful (as with just about every berghoff beer), with taste thats starts off with a hint of caramel and spice, and ends with some slight hop bitterness. Better than some of the other Berghoff fair.
