1.9 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Poured into a pint glass. No head, dark brown almost black color.
I desperately tried to smell it... at best it had a faint grain/wet malt smell.
It is sweet tasting throughout, like watered down liquid malt extract.
Syrupy and sticky texture. Heavier body and moderate carbonation.
It’s tough to like. Just a too sweet, dark looking beer.

Not a bad dark lager. Rich with caramel and bread, a touch of molasses and chocolate.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled (backlog, as Sundown Dark Beer), had@Monks Café, Stockholm. Brown colour with a mediumsized beige famy head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is chocolaty, nutty, toasted and also has some slight perfumed notes to it. Flavour is toasted malts, some metallic notes along with some slight chocolate and toffee.

2.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle. German-style lager. Pours toasty brown. Flavors are chocolate, coffee, molasses and malt. I really enjoyed this but I have to admit that I really want the Berghoff label to succeed from a historical perspective. However this beer is solid no matter what's on the label.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Chicago O’Hare bottle not tap, this one was much better than the Lager or the Amber. Rich roasted toasted malt, good Aroma. Solid and enjoyable. Worth drinking again.

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a dark brown color with creamy light brown head. Taste is heavier but drinks more like a dark ale than a stout. Went great with the bratwurst at Berghoff cafe in Chicago O’hare airport.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Mahogany with a thin, light tan head.
Aroma of caramel, fruit, slightly chocolatey.
Taste is malty, nutty-chocolate, caramel.
A little flat-feeling, but not a bad flavour.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle; Pour is brown with mahogany highlighting in this glass. A modest khaki head is present here, with poor retention and light lacing as well. The nose is fairly nice, actually; chestnuts, caramel, dark fruit here. The flavor profile reveals the same, with a hint of ash, light chocolate, mild bitterness ; this lacks depth, but is much better than expected, though expectations were quite low.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap at Chicago O’Hare. Remarkable how little difference there really is between the lager, the amber, and this one. This one is a dark brown, with a slight head that doesn’t last very long. Aroma is caramel, hint of milk chocolate. Flavor matches. No hop character, just enough bitterness to even things out. The best brew of the three they had, but still not that great. I caught myself looking with envy at the people on each side of me at the bar - one had a bottle of Two Hearted, and the other a bottle of Sierra Nevada Porter. But, still nice to try some new brews.

Bottle. Light chocolate barley malt aroma. Dark chestnut with large tan head. Sweet stale barley malt flavor. Medium body. Not bad - this was an older bottle though.
