Lightly hazed light golden color with a diminished white head. Sourdough wheat bread aromas. Light wheat in the front, followed by a twangy, somewhat metallic taste and feel. Lemon zest and battery acid. I was going to call this a re-label of the hefe-weiss, but this has no resemblance to the one I last reviewed. Has some berliner weisse characteristics that I do not mind, but I’m not sold that they are supposed to be there. I could set with a few of these on a hot summer day and be well quenched.

Bottle pours hazy orange-gold with an eggshell head. Aroma smells like banana nut muffin batter with a touch of bubblegum and clove. Flavor shows the same. Overall body is light to moderate and somewhat sweet with a lightly spicy finish.

Just an average wheat beer, nothing too exciting here. Not the worst, either though.

12oz bottle from Woodmans poured into a shaker. Pours a cloudy golden orange with about half a finger of bright white fizzy head. Aroma is mostly off-sweet malt. Moderate banana scent. Taste is medium sweet and strongly of banana. Almost tastes like banana bread. Medium-light bodied with a creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long sweet finish. Overall, its really not too bad. Definitely the best beer I’ve had yet from Berghoff. Also, as much as it tastes like banana bread, it is much better than the Wells version. Definitely something to try again in the future.

Berghoff Sample Pack from Sahar in Wicker Park. Pours hazy orange with thin white head. nose is wheat and orange citrus; a good balance of the body of the wheat and the zest of the orange. Taste mirrors the nose. Refreshing and tasty for a warm day though not overly complex. Note: The warmer the day, it seems, the higher I rate my Hefes... it is currently 78. Cheers!

12 ounce bottle from a sampler obtained at Woodman’s West Madison. Pours a hazy orange color with a thin white head that fades quickly. Aroma of clove, yeast, citrus and a faint nutty note. The taste is wheat, citrus, apricot, spicy finish. Medium bodied.

Not bad. Nothing really too complex here. Decent summer beer with grilling. Don’t expect anything too complex. Some wheat, lemon flavors. A little bitter.

Nice cloudy straw color, thick white head that lasted. Hints of clove, banana in the aroma and flavor. Nice sweetness. No hop flavor or bitterness. Light bodied. Nice Hefe, nothing special, but for the proce point, i will drink again.

Bottle. Pours pale gold with no discernible head and a slightly sour tart aroma with grainy malt backbone. Flavor is tart, citrusy and lacking in any body or rich flavors. Light bodied. This is my second "berghof" with an out of place sourness, maybe some production issues there? 4 2 4 2

UPDATED: APR 10, 2010 Pours a hazy straw color with a medium white head. Wheat, banana and sour malt on the nose. Nice banana/clove wheat beer flavor up front with a slightly sour finish. Very easy to drink and thirst quenching. I think I’ve found my new "lawnmower beer". Had to rerate this. Just tried it again out of a bottle. Sour nose and sour flavor...this is just bad.
