UPDATED: MAR 8, 2003 I definetely liked this beer. I haven't had it from the tap, which i hear is much better than the bottle. Still though, this was as solid of an hefe weizen as i've had from the u.s.

A great weissbier. I don’t know about it when bottled, but on tap at Berghoff’s Chicago restaurant, this is archetypal Hefe-Weizen: nice clove nose, fruity, slightly sweet, well-balanced body, with a cloudy appearance, and full, robust head.

My favorite Wheat beer is draft Erdinger, however this is difficult to get (in kegs) in the US. When it is found, it is nearly $150 per half barrel. This berghoff beer, rivals Erdinger in all cases, except price (only $70/half barrel). It is slightly cloudy in appearence, mild in flavor, and has a pleasing finish. The bottles are quite close to the draft (draft also available from Berghoff’s restaurant on Adam’s St. in Chicago).
