RonSullivan99 (2), USA does not count Feb 23, 2001 My favorite Wheat beer is
draft Erdinger,
however this is
difficult to get (in kegs)
in the US. When it is found,
it is nearly $150 per half barrel.
This berghoff beer, rivals
Erdinger in all cases, except
price (only $70/half barrel).
It is slightly cloudy in appearence,
mild in flavor, and has a pleasing finish.
The bottles are quite close to the draft
(draft also available from Berghoff’s
restaurant on Adam’s St. in Chicago). mikeben (336), Naperville, Illinois, USA May 8, 2007 Very nice hefe. The flavor is crisp (i notice the water quality of Berghoff’s as unusualy fresh) the colors right and flavor pretty authentic. I don’t know if I can say it is the best hefeweizen I ever had but it is very highly recomended. k2 (141), USA Aug 13, 2005 On of my favor wheat beer out there. Solid finish without the sour notes. Can drink with a lemon or without. Very refreshing on a good hot day. npdempse (932), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA Aug 17, 2001 A great weissbier. I don’t know about it when bottled, but on tap at Berghoff’s Chicago restaurant, this is archetypal Hefe-Weizen: nice clove nose, fruity, slightly sweet, well-balanced body, with a cloudy appearance, and full, robust head. Kodos (190), USA Feb 2, 2002 In America, not many brewers make a better Hefe. Sampled this at the Restaraunt on tap. Large head, clove nose, smooth banana?/citrus taste, cloudy appearance. If you are in Chicago, stop at the Berghoff!
