3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 esjaygee (2583) - Oak Creek, USA - APR 24, 2008
Unfiltered yellow with thin white head. Aroma of yeast and toasted malts. Flavor of light banana, vanilla. A little sweet with next to no bitterness. Not too bad.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 reebtogi (2159) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - APR 26, 2012
355ml bottle pours a hazy golden color with a 2 finger white head that has decent retention eventually settling to some respectable lacing. Aroma is banana and cloves with some cereal grains and light hops. Taste is malty sweet with the banana and cloves and a citrusy hop bitterness in the finish. Light bodied and moderately carbonated. The best of the Berghoff brews that I have tried to date.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 oh6gdx (16001) - Vasa, FINLAND - JUL 5, 2011
Bottled@Monks Café, Stockholm. Hazy golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is tomatosauce-pizza-spices as well as some wheat and caramel. Flavour is being very similar with some herbal notes. Probably rather old bottle (drank during summer 2010).
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 rings (54) - Michigan, USA - FEB 14, 2011
This is a Bavarian style wheat beer, unfiltered--and mistakenly served with a slice of lemon (no friggin’ fruit, please!)--and represents a pretty fair effort for a contract brewer. It’s certainly much better than it had been a few years before.
Brewed only using pale barley and wheat malt, it’s pale straw in color and pretty full in body, with plenty of banana and clove overtones to be expected. The finish is balanced and clean, with only the lingering yeasty esters traditional to the style.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 sbanach (202) - USA - OCT 17, 2010
Sampled at Berghoff brewery on Adams St. downtown Chicago. This brew was okay. I’m not very fond of the Hafe Weizen as I feel they need more fruit and less grainy. Aroma was of grains, banana, grassy. The appearance is of a yellow haze. Frothy head, appearance was great! Overall, not a fan, but will have again if I see it on tap somewhere..
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Maverick34 (1413) - New York, USA - APR 7, 2010
Draught from the restaurant. Cloudy, a little bit less acidic than I like my hefe’s. OK.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 arkurzynski (846) - West Bend, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 21, 2010
Pale yellow and slightly hazy. Abit of that sweet aroma, but mostly lacking. Taste is watered down lemonade. Citrus and sour. Bad aftertaste. Nicht gut.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 MadIndian (1902) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 16, 2009
Gift from my Wisconsin hook up. Thanks Jamie. Hazy golden color with mild citrus aroma followed by a more dominant wheat. A clove and banana taste thin in body but not bad.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 drowland (3881) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - AUG 24, 2009
I’ve never been a huge fan of their stuff anyway, but this is one of my least favorite hefes for sure.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 marchcow (664) - Coralville, Iowa, USA - MAR 19, 2009
Grass and ketchup aromas. Appearance is slightly murky golden yellow. Flavors of corn, corn syrup, sharp tomatoey flavors. Odd combination of sweet and dry. Slight chocolaty note on the duration with chalkiness. Thin with almost no head retention. Unusual.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 nuplastikk (2612) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 4, 2009
12oz bottle. Macro Hefe aroma wich worsens with the raise in temperature with a cloudy lightish golden orange color. After tasting it, I really have to declare Minhas extremely guilty of the use of adjuncts. What a shitalicious brewery. Still slightly more interesting than Bud Light, you can potentially drink this. The corn and hefe-banana tastes sort of uncomfortably merge, overly sweet. Nothing that a Ratebeerian would ever look forward to.
