3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Oakes (10009) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 13, 2012
@ORD. Golden and bright with a gentle sparkle and a thin head. Lightly malty and vaguely appley aroma. Moderately malty palate - almost all pale malts. There is a noticeable light bitterness around 20IBUs, but not really any hop character besides that. Good for what it is.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a pale yellow with an average white head. Aroma of sweet malt, wheat and some citrus. Taste is grain, malt, lemon and a bit of spice. Some bitterness at the finish. Decent.

This beer is really pretty decent, but still nothing much to it. I like some more complexity.

12oz bottle from Woodman’s poured into a Shaker. Labeled as "Prairie Lager Beer". Pours a pale yellow with a small bit of fizzy white head. Smells lightly of hops and a decent amount of rotting barnyard skunk. Taste is lightly sweet and lightly sour on the aftertaste. Actually has a decent, if very light, hop flavor. I think this one may be the best of any from the Berghoff family I’ve had yet. It doesn’t have that artificial sugar taste the other ones have. Medium bodied with a sticky and oily texture. Lively carbonation and not much to speak of in way of finish. Overall, its not too bad. Nothing I would buy again but I’ll at least finish this one off.
2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Drake (4803) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - AUG 18, 2011
12 ounce bottle under the Prairie Lager label from a sampler. Pours clear amber with a thin white fizzy head that quickly fades. Aroma of green banana and toasted malts. The taste is intensely sweet, sugar malts, some apple, toastiness, very faint hops. Almost cloyingly sweet. Thin bodied.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 cbfobes (1011) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - APR 2, 2011
Poured from 12oz bottle, pours a clear golden with a thin white head, aroma is of faint malt with a hint of hops, the flavor has a fruity touch to it but finishes with metal, meh.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20 crossovert (2547) - Wisconsin, USA - MAR 16, 2011
A light, fruity lager. It didn’t have too much diacetyl, but it was there. Had it at O’Hare airport while those bastards delayed my flight and thought abotu groping me.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 rings (54) - Michigan, USA - FEB 14, 2011
The "lightest" is their Berghoff Lager, which is the training wheels beer for most, I’m sure. It’s probably all malt, as it had a nice full body for an American lager and was very clean, with nary a hint of hoppy balance.
While better than expected, it’s still a pretty average effort.
