Berghoff Pale Ale is created in the classic American style. It is light copper-colored and medium bodied with a light maltiness. High quality American hops are used to produce this high hop bitterness, flavor and aroma, a must have for true hop aficionados!!! Nice copper body with a skimpy off-white head. Aroma of mild caramel malt with some orange zest and earthy bitterness. The flavor is a very light sweet malt with a dash of citric hop bitterness. A fine example of the taming of a style.

Bottle. Not much aroma. Light colored head. Nice color for a pale ale, lets you know it isn’t lacking in flavor. Mild bitterness and not much hop for a pale ale. It’s good, but not on the top of it’s style.

Clear amber color, not much of a fizzy white head. Oddly, I can’t smell much from this beer. Slight citrus rind and what I can only call pencil lead. Taste good enough. A bit fizzy to me, but it has a citrus and grassy hop character nicely balanced with some caramel malts. Not overly complex, but a decent drink that has good flavor.

While living in Wisconsin, this was the best drinking beer for $4.99 a six, and still I find few examples of a decent beer for a decent price.

Bottle. Clear copper color with a medium white head that was mostly diminishing. Good hoppy aroma. Medium body with slick texture. Moderate flavor with short bitter finish.

Goldish orange with nice tight creamy white head. Aroma is malty with a sour malt presence, sweetness, and a sense that it is fairly full. Flavor is tangy and sharp, but at the same time a bith thin and unclean. Malt flavor is not very smooth It’s drinkable but could use more character.

This is more orange than pale. It reminds me of Sierra Nevada, but not as well done. Hoppy at the start, it fades too quickly to be truly special.

Amber yellowish color with small head. Enjoyable beer after mowing the yard. Nice taste close to a American dark lager in malts.
