1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20 EithCubes (4199) - New Jersey, USA - JAN 14, 2007Bottle. Faint nose is nigh-impossible to detect. Only aroma pts are for slight citrus and mild hops, but really, this should be a 1. Pale orange body with a rocky yet fizzled-out off-white head and strong visible carbonation. Watery body is bland and infused with a slight (grassy) stale bitterness. Disgusting little disappointment.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 wlajwl (2907) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - AUG 10, 2012
Aroma is fruit/berries and earthiness. The flavor is fruit, mild sweetness and some bitterness in the finish. Too close to an EPA, better to classify it as one.
1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 jmagnus87 (1390) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - MAY 27, 2012
12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear pale yellow with about a finger of white head. Aroma of straw, grains and corn with a little citrus. Taste is about the same. Light bodied with a thin texture. Fizzy carbonation and not much of a finish. Overall, just like every other Berghoff I’ve had, this beer is crap. I would call this a "Premium Lager" long before I called it an APA.
2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 brian60625 (609) - Illinois, USA - MAY 11, 2012
Like a dim member of a party, this one is just barely enough to keep things going. It’s nothing fantastic, and the only flavor I could pick up on was a sort of metallic-apple-sweetness. Yet, I still wanted to finish my glass of it. If it were a song, it would be called [shoulders raised] "Beers that make ya go ’ehhh.’"
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 reebtogi (3266) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - APR 26, 2012
355ml bottle pours a pale amber color with a 2 finger white head that settled quickly but did reveal some thin spotty lacing. Aroma is light caramel and herbal hops. Taste is quite malty sweet with a mild herbal hop bitterness with a touch of citrus. Light to medium body with some decent carbonation. Just not enough body and hops to pass as a good pale ale, so I recommend a pass on this one.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 queenholly (1853) - South Whitley, Indiana, USA - MAR 19, 2012
Bottle. Sweet orange and malt aroma. No hops detectable in the aroma. Light amber with a moderate off white head, decent lacing. Light malt and vegetal flavor. No discernible hops flavor. Reminds me more of some Märzens I’ve had.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 rondphoto (983) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - NOV 8, 2011
hazy light copper color with rocky head and good lacing. Taste is sweet caramel malt with light bittering in the finish. Not complicated, not filling, and easy to drink. Good for the off day when you just want a beer or two.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DasBierChef (1080) - Hudson, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 21, 2011
Pours a light amber color. Aroma reveals a nice malty flavor that’s also present in the flavor. Pretty light on the palate, but that’s to be expected.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 cbfobes (1674) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - APR 5, 2011
Poured from 12oz bottle, pours a clear reddish amber with a thin diminishing head, there’s nothing really there in the aroma and the flavor is more of sweet malt then anything else, very bland and forgettable, pass.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 dwaggs2 (1297) - Jefferson City, Missouri, USA - MAR 18, 2011
Bottle. Poured a darker amber reddish color with a tiny white head. Did leave plenty of lacing on the glass as it went. Aroma was funky. Not your typical pale ale aroma. Aroma was sweeter. Molasses, corn, and malts. Flavor was very sweet. Carmel, and molasses. No hops what so ever. Very malty and sweet. I don’t know how this is an APA. Drinkable though. Not the worst beer I have had, just not an APA.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 bpreo (1173) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - OCT 12, 2010
UPDATED: OCT 16, 2010 This bottle was a couple of years old, and it looks like Berghoff (which has since been renamed Minhas) changed their logos considerably. Luckily the taste stayed the same.
