2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 mcjay (462) - Neenah, USA - DEC 8, 2008
Brownish color with an amber hue and a thin off white head. Caramel dominates the nose and the tongue. Sweet and malty with a dry finish and a hint of spice. A little fruity, not great but very drinkable.

bottle - Pours dark amber with a small off-white head. It has minimal aroma. The flavor is very sweet with some caramel. It tastes off though. I’m not sure what it is about it. I don’t think it’s infected, but whatever’s going on, it’s not good. Thin. Odd. Meh.
2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Patrickctenchi (370) - columbus, Indiana, USA - FEB 28, 2012
UPDATED: MAR 2, 2012 Cola coloured, fluffy tan head.
Ok, here’s where it gets strange...I looked at the other reviews and mine is in left field.....maybe a bad bottle....don’t know....here’s my take: Aroma is spice and Tomato...Taste is vaguely like a weak bloody mary mix....That’s what I got out of it....I’m going to try another just to check myself. Strangely, it wasn’t that bad. That’s my justification for the mid-range rating. I’ll get back to this.
TAKE 2: Different bottle, (of course) purchased at different location.....same result, maybe not as much tomatoe-zing, but it’s there. Other reviewers report iron and metallics, maybe that’s what’s throwing me off. I’m going to let this stand and try next winter’s offering.
2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Quasimodo (141) - chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 12, 2012
An unoffensive and forgettable brew, but decent enough to drink. Minimal bitterness. Mild maltiness. Faint notes of raisins or prunes. A little too subtle for me.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DasBierChef (944) - Lucan, Minnesota, USA - AUG 21, 2011
Pours a light amber color. Aroma reveals a nice malty flavor that’s also present in the flavor. Pretty light on the palate, but that’s to be expected.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 cbfobes (1045) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - APR 4, 2011
Poured from 12oz bottle, pours a clear dark brown with a decent tan head and some lacing, aroma is of malt with a touch of caramel, the flavor is of sweet malt with a hint of chocolate in the finish, still pretty thin and just not that enjoyable. I guess I can’t complain for an $8 12 pack of mixed brews from Minhas.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 mansquito (1809) - washington, Washington DC, USA - FEB 21, 2011
Celtic Knot, Evanston bottle ($3.50): Pours a brown color with a tan head. Aroma of sweet malts. In honesty, it didn’t taste very bocky to me; it seemed to be more oriented towards a lame English style winter ale. Caramel malts were most present in the aroma and in the taste. Palate was uninteresting. I would just say that this was an expected disappointment. Anything contracted to Minhas is just not going to be that exciting.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 fidelis83 (1346) - Clinton, Iowa, USA - MAY 4, 2010
Pours a clear mahogany brown with a 1 finger off white head that fades to a skim fairly quickly. Aroma is sweet, crusty white bread, roasted nuts with toffee, light mineral notes, light notes of roast, mollasses, chocolate and planty hops. Flavor is crusty white bread, apple skins, roasted nuts, toffee, caramel and planty hops. Palate is pretty thin with a light, though sharp carbonation. Decent, though not spectacular brew.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 Scubatrip (559) - Annandale, Virginia, USA - NOV 4, 2009
From the bottle, pours a clear red like cranberry juice. Aroma is sweet though thin. Taste is rather disappointing. There’s a hint of holiday spices, but mostly a darker version of a brewpub’s obligatory blond ale. I’m not a fan of this one.

Gift from my Wisconsin hook up. Thanks Jamie. Ehh. The amber pour looked nice. Some caramel malts in aroma and flavor were noticable. It was ok.

33 cl bottle, Fargo, ND, USA. Pale amber, rather than red. Smells of fake caramel and tastes the same. Too sweet.
